Wedding Weekend

What is a blogger's worst nightmare? Going to a big event, having a great blog post in mind and then FORGETTING YOUR CAMERA!!!! Yep. I did it. I guess with all the rushing around, having to meet for bridesmaids pictures at 3:45 (prime nap time for 2 kids), having your husband (aka baby daddy) already at the church for groomsmen pictures, remembering to pack the breast pump (oh, and pump a bottle while I'm at it), the double sided tape (my dress was a nightmare waiting to happen), Caroline's dress and jewelry, the hairbrush and hairspray, the diaper bag and other necessities, I forgot one of the most important things! I didn't realize I forgot it until I was halfway to the church and it was too late to go back. Believe me, it was tempting. So I told myself "don't worry, I'll just get pictures from Dolly and Mom.". Well, forgetfulness must run in the Reber fam because they forgot theirs at the hotel. So, I'll have to rely on my sister-in-law to send me copies of her pictures. Kristy, please e-mail them ASAP because I know my faithful blog readers are dying for a slide show!!!

Anyway, it was a fun weekend but very, very busy. I think if I ever have to do it again or if I know anyone who is going to be in a wedding with two small children I will have one bit of advice...HIRE A BABYSITTER TO HELP YOU!!!!! I thought Roy and I could tag-team it, but he had to be certain places and so did I and it ended up making Mommy rather tired and stressed out. But enough about me. The weekend was about Cissie and Corey. They had an absolutely beautiful wedding. It was neat having a fun event to attend on New Year's Eve. The church was decked out with candles and gorgeous flowers, the bride was stunning, the groom was handsome and everything was flawless. Caroline walked down the aisle holding my hand and was supposed to go sit with my parents, but she decided on the walk down that she wanted to stand with me and Roy.....ON STAGE! So we had to let her because I didn't want her screaming if I forced her to sit with my parents. Plus, there was no time to think as I was already to the drop-off row when she decided this. So, she stood next to us, holding my hand, and peering out into the crowd. I was so proud of my 2 1/2 year old and how well she was behaving. She even looked up at me and smiled a few times. Then it happened. The vows were about to be recited and she decided to pitch a fit. What?! Are you kidding me? It wasn't bad enough that she decided to slowly have a melt down on stage at a wedding but we are standing right next to Corey and Cissie. I mean, I can reach out and touch the bride from where we are standing! So, Roy had to take her to row 2 as she was crying "Mommy....mommy!!!" and hand her over to Grammy, Grandaddy and pink blankie. Ahhh, pink blankie...the lifesaver!

The reception was gorgeous. The theme: Breakfast at Tiffany's. Breakfast was served, lights and candles were everywhere and that famous tiffany blue was splashed throughout the rooms. Apparently 2008 was rung in during the reception but Caroline, Roy Austin and yours truly returned to the cabin at 11:00 and I sat by my lonesome self on the couch while watching Dick Clark say Happy New Year!

We are home now and it feels SO good to be back after almost two weeks on the road. Roy Austin let out a giggle as I laid him on the changing table and Caroline went to play with her toys in her playroom immediately. There truly is no place like your own home to bring a sense of comfort and peace. Happy 2008 everyone! I hope it brings much joy and happiness for all of you. And congratulations Cissie and Corey Lynch! Enjoy your honeymoon and marriage. And for you Graham Central Station fans, enjoy the pictures that I did manage to take from the weekend and a few that were e-mailed...

Not to worry Donna honey...we rocked it in w/ Dick too. We came in, got into those jammies, built a fire, made homemade ice cream and cookies and the rest was history. I felt so old!

P.S...Carol's breakdown wasn't that bad. I was a couple of rows behind your parents and it just sounded like one "waaaahhh" when Roy got her off the stage but once your mom took her, it was ALL safe and sound. Roy was nice and discreet getting her to your parents. I was chuckling b/c I could feel what was going through your head as that was going down....LOL

I can't wait for more pics too! Cissie looked BEAUTIFUL and that cake...only one word...WOW! I was laughing about Caroline's story--remember when Dan-Dan had a breakdown @ Dolly's wedding & Roy had to take a trip to the potty with him? haha These things are what make weddings memorable! Way to go Roy!!:) Happy New Years...love you guys!

What is it about a wedding that brings out the worst in our little girls?? Sara did that back in October at David's cousin's wedding!! I must say it sounds like you handled it much more gracefully than I did...I was fine on the outside, but a wreck on the inside. Glad you're back, though. See you soon!
