Our Weekend in Virginia

This weekend we were in Virginia to visit my family for a few days. We got in late on Friday night (around midnight) and had the privelege of a private concert by Caroline the entire trip. I bought her this Bible Songs CD the other day and she already knows every song on the CD. Her favorite is "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho" and she does a killer job with it. She really makes that song her own. When we pulled in my parent's driveway, she went crazy and was so giddy and excited! She kept saying "I see it!". Luckily, she went to bed without too much trouble. We woke up on Saturday to my Dad's famous pancake breakfast and got to visit with Auntie Dolly, Uncle Leland and Auntie Dawnie. Then we headed to the J. Crew Clearance Store (another Lynchburg visit tradition). Caroline lucked out and got two cute skirts for next Spring. Dolly and I got in a pedicure that afternoon, which I needed badly, and we ended the day with a 30th birthday celebration cook-out back at Mom and Daddy's.
Sunday we went to church, to Dolly's for lunch, and then we pulled out of town (with a stop by Panera and Starbucks) around 7:30. We got home around midnight last night and only had a concert about 3/4 of the way home. The funny thing is, Roy knows all the songs now. Up until this point, the only songs he knew were the first half of Jesus Loves Me, The Lord's Prayer and a song he made up about how much he hates school--I'm serious. So, now he knows all kinds of Bible songs! I killed 2 birds with one stone with the purchase of that CD!
So today, I'm off to pick up my rental car for the week, run a boring errand to the body shop on the other side of town and hopefully to pick up Caroline's 2 year pictures. I'm hoping this week I'll get some painting done in the children's rooms. More updates to come. No pictures today, sorry. The VA pictures weren't that exciting.

It was fun having you guys up here (as Al Roker would say) in "our neck of the woods." By the way Donna, the Seckman's LOVE Roy. They think he's so funny! I think they enjoyed hanging out with you all on Sunday.

It was a great bday weekend and Donna summed it up best on her blog so no need to duplicate!

I'm laughing at "anonymous". I wonder who that could be?!

Oh, and Ashleigh, I'm sorry to hear about your fender bender. It IS a pain but you'll be glad you got if fixed right away.

Is Anonymous Kim? Kim, you were too busy for us this weekend, anyway. You weren't able to pencil us in. Hey, at least I got to see your brother.
Ashliegh, sorry about the wreck. We waited in line at Enterprise for about 40 min, but I ended up with a nice car, so it's all okay. Teecy, OF COURSE we missed you. Denise, you were missed even more...sorry Teecy.

oops. Sorry, Kim. The annonymous HAS to be Denise. I could tell by the times the comments were written. Plus, I know how much she misses home:)

Yikes, you're a little Inspector Gadget! That Jenius DNA must run deep in the fam.

It was the time. The time blew my cover. Shoot!

Donna it did sound like you had a good weekend but I had my family in town from CANADA and since they NEVER come and visit I thought I should spend time with them:) Plus with me being a new aunt, I had to make sure that the baby was growing and didn't hatch if I left it! TRUST me if I had of written that funny comment that Denise did I would have claimed it! In whisper "Denise you're funny!"

Kim, I'm just so used to you being the "Anonymous" writer on these blogs! I'm glad to see you haven't given up. Congrats on becoming an aunt! You are going to be such a fun one!!!

It sounds like you had a fun, busy weekend. Caleb's favorite song is also "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho." I have to play it for him over and over and over in the car and he sings every word. We will have to get he and Caroline to sing their favorite song together!

What a fun family weekend! Joshua and the battle of Jericho was my favorite Christian kids movie when I was little.
and Speaking of pedicures, I need one terribly. Wonder if it is bad to take your three month old with you?
