Got Milk?

Roy has a hunting buddy who owns and operates a dairy farm a few hours up the road.  Yesterday on our way home from the mountains, we stopped by to see if the kids could feed the baby cows a bottle.  What we ended up getting was a private field trip to the Dairy!

The kids LOVED the baby cows.

Every where "Bubby" went, Charlotte went.   She giggled and giggled at these cows.

This is where all of the mommy cows are kept.  They watched Roy Austin and Caroline very carefully.  Caroline is plugging her nose because it was S-T-I-N-K-Y!

REALLY stinky.

This was my favorite part of the tour.  They herd these mommas in and start the milking two times a day.

Roy Austin pulled on one of the udders and told Caroline, "Come on!  Do it!  It's really soft!".

Bless her heart.

It was very neat to see how the milk is pumped and then tunneled through to this huge vat for the man to come suction out the next morning.  I don't think I'll ever pour a bowl of cereal again the same way:)

That's really cool you all had a private tour. I bet it DID stink! I would love to have seen RA milking the cow. haha

That's so nice for you to take the children to see the farm and the milking and all that neat stuff. I'm sure you and Roy learned a lot, too. The kiddies will never forget that. The pictures are adorable. Thanks for posting!!!

COOL family trip! I loved reading about it. It sounds like you had your own little Indiana State Fair trip. Just wish daddy and links could have been there too.
