Each night, Roy and I have a devotional time with our children. We have since they were babies and it's just part of our routine now. I think we have read just about every "My First Bible", "Babies First Stories about God", "Little Bible for Children" type Bible story books that are out there...and then we've re-read them! Devotions were beginning to be a squirm, wiggle and review time for the kids. I felt that they knew most of the stories, which made me happy, but I wondered if they were really learning any Biblical and life applying concepts. So, I did a little looking around and found this book:
...and I'm so glad I did!
It's been around for about 50 years, but it's perfect! Each night you get a verse to reflect on and then there is a short story that includes concepts from that verse. Our kids have loved this book and I have loved hearing them talk about "imitating Christ" in their daily lives and how "everything belongs to God". I feel that this book really sinks in:)
I bought mine on Kindle, but I'm sure you can get it for cheap on Amazon, too!

So.....you don't remember that book, huh? We had that when I was young, and I know I read it to you girls when you were little, too. Yes, it's a great book. The stories are interesting, not too long, and the questions are just right for little minds. I don't know if I still have mine around here somewhere, or if I gave it to one of the other girls. I'll have to research that one. There are two volumes, though, if I remember right. Good book!
We used this book when I was growing up. I wonder if we still have it somewhere? And yes, I remember 2 volumes, too!
Hey, I remember that book. I think ours had a different cover. Thanks Donster, for posting. I'm going to Amazon now!
Donna, I think that was our devotional book growing up! I recognized the cover - that's great!
How sweet! That's the same book I used as a kid. Good to know it's still around...I might have to check it out again!
Thank you for the recommendation. Love the new blog look too :) Love, Caroline Grossman
Good to know! I think I'll order this book too. I don't remember this book growing up. I just remember "keys for kids" every morning. Those were good ones too.
