Laughs from '11

It's that time of year to clean out my Laugh Jar from 2011 and type out all the funny things my children said or did. This time, the jar was filled with items from Roy Austin (go figure). Here are a few favorites:

First I'll start with his funny vocabulary and pronunciation of words in 2011:
Sweet Frog Yogurt Shop= "Leap Frog"
Frozen Yogurt= "Freezing Yogurt"
Bathing Suit-= "Baby Soup"
VBS="CVS"
Charlotte = "Shah-wet"
You= "Yours"

*I was getting ready to go to my annual appointment with my OB-GYN and I told the kids I had to go see Dr. Stein. "Why", Roy Austin asked. "Yours going to put Charlotte back in your belly?"

*One afternoon at Harris Teeter, I heard a familiar voice announce "4038" over the loud speaker followed by hilarious laughter. He figured out how to pull down and turn on the microphone from a nearby checkout counter and was VERY proud of himself. I couldn't help but laugh, although I was embarrassed.

*One afternoon, while visiting my parents, Roy Boy went down for his nap in our bedroom. I was getting ready to take my shower and I was gathering my clothes to bring in the bathroom. I was looking for my bra and asked him if he'd seen it. The word "Bra" made him giggle and he sat there looking at me with a funny grin on his face. As I looked in suitcases and around the furniture he said, "Yours only has one boobie bra?"--with the continued funny grin on his face. I told him that I had another but I wanted the one I was looking for. So, I gave up and went ahead and showered and got ready. When Roy went to wake him from his nap, he was sleeping while clutching my lost bra in his hands. He had it the whole time.

*Last December, Roy and I were checking out at a store and the kids were watching a video clip from St. Judes on a nearby TV. It was about a little boy who had leukemia and he did not have any hair. So of course when we got in the car, they had tons of questions. I told them how he had a sickness in his head that the doctors had to cut out and that it made him lose his hair. They asked how the doctors knew he had that sickness so I said that he got in a big X-ray machine and had a proceduere done called a CAT-scan. I told them it wasn't a real cat, but it was just called that. So at bedtime devotions when it was RoyBoy's turn to pray, this was his prayer, "Dear Jesus, please be with that little boy. He had his head cut open and then the cats got in." Bless his sweet, little heart! Roy and I smiled so big but were so proud.....he was very sincere and God knew exactly what he meant:)

And Caroline continues to be such a sweet, caring big sister. She is a thinker and says the sweetest things:

*While listening to Michael W. Smith's "Awesome God", she said that it reminds her of all the people we know who are in Heaven already.

*RoyBoy said something mean to Caroline in the car. I made him apologize and she said (through tears), "It's okay, Buddy, but you broke my heart!"

*I had told the kids one morning about Grumps (Roy's dad) as a child and how naughty he could be. I told them how TaiTai (his mom) put him in the trunk once because she was so frustrated with him. Later that afternoon, Caroline asked me if I could put them in the trunk the next time we went out. I told her a policeman could get me if I did that. She asked why TaiTai didn't get in trouble with the police and I told her I didn't know, to which she answered "I bet she just acted really confident."!

*Last December Caroline asked me if I was going to be ready for school to start again after Christmas. I told her no and that I enjoyed having her home. She said, "Oh, Shew! I'm so glad! Michael Buble said, 'Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again'!". (we were listening to "It's Beginning to Look A lot Like Christmas)!

And last but not least, these two LOVE and adore their baby sister...they have since Day 1! Out of the blue one August afternoon, Roy Boy came up to me and said, "I think we should keep Charlotte". And in the car on the way to school one morning last Spring, Caroline said, "Charlotte? Can I tell you something? I sure am glad we have you."

Be still, my heart:)

Donna, these are great! Roy Austin is so funny and I love that one where Caroline said "Shew"...about you being happy that they were home and not back in school yet - I can just hear that line being sung! That is so funny that she thought about that.
