1st and 3rd

Me and my little wiggle worm at 34 weeks. During the past month, this baby has become quite the wiggler. S/he moves constantly! Not crazy movements like Roy Austin did, but just wiggles---especially when I walk, which feel very weird!

I was thinking the other day how different it has been preparing for my first and third baby.
With my first:
1. I had the nursery planned from the first few weeks of my pregnancy. Everything was picked out in the catalog or dreamed up in my head. I spent my days off going to fabric stores, Babies R Us, and scouring the Internet looking for the perfect items to go into that room. This baby will get the same nursery that Caroline and RoyBoy had (it's a nice one, though!). BUT I did get new bedding and the walls and crib rails that are all smudgy from Roy Austin's dirty hands will be magic erasered:)

2. With my first, I started buying clothes the day I knew the sex. In fact I actually had outfits picked out at Baby Gap in case we had a girl, and when I got the go ahead from the ultrasound, they were purchased! Everything that was going to touch Caroline's skin was washed separately in Dreft and ironed and hung up immediately. I have bought a few uni-sex gowns with this one. They are either hung up still on the store hanger or in a pile to go through next week. And no Dreft for these guys....they'll be washed with the family laundry.

3. By this time with my first, I had already begun to make a pile for my hospital stay. The suitcase wasn't out yet, but I had a little pile with what pj's I was going to bring (my famous blue ones--a story for another day), what I thought was going to be my nursing bra, and all the things that What to Expect tells you to bring (embarrassing, but I actually had a coin purse packed with money for "dad" to have to get snacks and the sports sock filled with tennis balls to massage my back during labor). With this one, I'll pack a day or two before I go in. Oh, and I still have to go get my pajamas and those nursing bras that I KNOW I'll need.

4. I probably made weekly, or at least bi-weekly, trips to Babies R Us with Caroline just to make sure I saw everything. I made my first trip to BRU yesterday and walked out with a nice crib mattress pad on clearance and a sheet saver (something I've never had). After 2 babies I've realized I despise changing crib sheets so anything that will help with that, I'll take.

5. I have to say that I laugh when I see first time moms registering. Just in the last 6 years since my first pregnancy, there are so many new things out for babies! As I walked by some first-timers yesterday, they were registering for things that I know they won't need. I recently saw a new bath towel for babies that the mom wears (a huge Snuggie looking thing that goes down to the ankles). Recently, Roy and I were at Buy Buy Baby checking out car seats and we saw a couple looking this towel over and adding it to their registery. It made us laugh:)

6. Speaking of new car seats, that is one of the only new things this baby is getting.

Three weeks from today!

First of all, your little tummy STILL looks great! I can't believe you're due in 3 WEEKS!!! I was shaking laughing about you bringing a coin purse and some tennis balls for a back massage with your first. I remember reading that in WTEXE but I didn't go that far. Man, you were PREPARED!!! I am also guilty of buying Dreft and washing all Michael's clothes SEPARATELY with that stuff. It's funny how first time moms feel like that have to do everything the books say. All I know is that this little baby (can't wait to find out what it is) is super blessed to have YOU for their mommy! Watch out world...another Graham is on its way!

So funny....how things change when you become a "pro" mom. Just make sure you still take plenty of pictures of this new little one. That's really where parents slack off, for some reason. The poor little third...or more, child just doesn't have many pictures taken of them. Don't let this happen. But, then, knowing you, Donna, you WON'T do that!!! Can't wait to see what comes out. ILY

It's funny the things first time mom's do. I was laughing too at the "coin purse" and tennis ball! Who carries coins anymore??? Can you believe the vending machines at Liberty/TRBC actually have Credit Card slots???? That is nuts!!!

Anyway, rest assured blog readers, this baby Graham will still be properly taken care of and there will be plenty of pictures and baby books too for this baby. Donna is the bomb digity mom!

Can't wait to see you tomorrow!

.........and I didn't do any of those things....! Will came a month early and I didn't even have the room ready! I was a terrible mom~but I sure loved him when he got here and he survived~~~somehow~~~and it probably was a miracle!
I can hardly wait to hear what you have and what we have!!! So exciting!!! You look great and you are amazing on how you get everything done and looking so nice and pretty.
Love you and miss you all.....

Jan you crack me up reminding Donna to take pictures......I reckon after all the ribbing you have taken for not having Donna's baby book full and etc. it is a good reminder.....my last two got short changed too. Cissie probably made out better but Roy and Edward probably got cheated the most~~~Just wasn't good at getting it all done!

Donna,You look so good! Another guilty Dreft momma here - I think I used it until Caroline (#2) was at least 2. I just like the way it smelled for her clothes.

Can't wait to see what this baby is! S/he is going to be one loved baby!

First of all - my Net Nanny blocked me from going to your site today!! It must think you have naughty things going on. I wonder if it is because you used the word sex a few times in this post. HILARIOUS.
You do look amazing. Truly. Amazing.
You are so right about the "baby stuff" industry. It is out of control! I play a game (with myself) at baby showers called "you won't ever use that." Almost half the stuff they get falls into that category.
SO excited for you, Donna. You are such a wonderful morhter and the little one is so blessed already.

Just thought I would share this with you....this was one of the few "new" things my 3rd child got. Mostly it was for me because of the crib sheet changing fiasco! It is worth its weight in gold!!!

oh girl, I laughed all the way through this one. You are right everything changes with that third child. I hate changing crib sheets too!!! Drove me nutso. I put Brody in a big boy bed this summer and he never gets out of it. I am so proud. I delayed it forever thinking he would be out of it running around the house all night. He is being a big boy and staying in it. Glad your pregnancy is going well and you look maw..velous!
