Yard Sale!

Last Saturday, our neighborhood had a yard sale and since I am starting to nest we cleaned out all of our junk and got rid of almost all of it! It was a HOT day, but a productive one. Caroline has been so intrigued by the earthquake in Haiti. She always wants to watch the "good news" at night to see if there are any updates and she prays for the people of Haiti all the time. A few weeks ago, she told me that when we had our yard sale, she wanted to sell cokes and cookies for Haiti. So, we set her up a booth and she made $52 to send to Samaritan's Purse! She was very into her job and loved getting people their drinks!

My next door neighbor is getting out of the little girl stage and entering the tween years, so her mom was selling some good stuff. I bought this Pottery Barn Kids art table for our playroom! And after a call to Lynchburg, Dawn gave me the go-ahead to buy this Pottery Barn Kids kitchen set for her for her house.

Dawn, Caroline loved playing with the kitchen and the accessories. Something tells me it will be a hit with the kids up there:

This guy was loving the morning. He loves to have yard sales--I'm being dead serious:

Around 9:30, RoyBoy woke up and joined us with his bacon and biscuit. He was shocked by all the people in our driveway. He's been sleeping in really late for the past week and I am not complaining!

Best yard sale story of the day: I was selling a Pottery Barn Kids puppy dog chalkboard that I used for Roy Austin's 1st birthday party but haven't used since. One of our first customers told me she'd buy it if she could be assured that the money would be going to the Canine Rescue Mission. She was leaving that day for the conference in Texas and wanted to bring the donation with her! I told her absolutely not! I ended up selling it for more than I paid later in the morning:)

Donna you are such a good blogger keeping all of us updated!

Loved the pictures of the yard sale. Those Queen City yard sales are the best. Seriously, the stuff people sell there is like--nice stuff. Do Charlotte people have real junk---ie. a 12 year old Peg Perego highchair????

Caroline was sweet to want to sell cookies for Haiti! If I were there I would have been one of her biggest customers!!!!! Me likie cookies!

Glad your yard sale was a success! You bought some great things, too, I might add! Isn't it amazing what some people will want to do/buy with your things? We had a great sale and cleaned out a lot of things - it feels GREAT!

Caroline is so precious --with her little stand and heart to help others. I enjoy watching her grow up through your blog/FB. BTW --you aren't the only one dealing with "potty talk" -- a friend of mine who has girls thought she was going to avoid any of that, but their favorite word is "tooty" -- so, you're not alone! :)

Love your updates on your blog. I wish I could have been there to join in the yard sale. You're a good mom for baking all those things for Caroline to sell. I bet she LOVED managing her own table too.

Okay, I couldn't believe the kitchen set Dawn got from your friend. My first thought was, "I can't believe Donna didn't call me," but then Dawn told me she had been looking for one. Soooooo, I'm happy for her. It's a nice one and I know all the kids will enjoy playing with it.
Oh, and how much did you make?

Ok, your neighbor had some GOOD stuff! Let me know when she has another garage sale and it may be worth the gas money up there. Love that kitchen!

Sweet Caroline...she's got a good heart in her.

Yeah right, I'm sure that lady was taking the money straight to the canine convention...uhhh, maybe straight to the liquor convention!

We have that kitchen! If yours is loved half as much as ours is, you'll never regret the purchase :)

I love your precious Caroline!! How wonderful that her heart is with hurting people and that she wants to help. That is awesome!!

Asking for YOUR yard sale proceeds to go to HER dog charity?? How WEIRD!!! Seriously - I don't get that at all. I'm so glad you said NO and got more money later.

I googled and looked all over for a "canine rescue mission convention" in Texas....didn't find a thing. I think that lady was going from yard sale to yard sale getting "free" things. I'm glad you didn't bite at her story. Glad your sale went so well. Your pictures are great, and it looked like everyone was having a wonderful time.

Jenius and the googling...you can count on HER to get the REAL story! I LOVE it! I cannot believe that lady would ask such a thing! WEIRD!

You got some goooood stuff at those sales! Good for You!!

Sweet Caroline...what a precious heart she has! And I love how she calls the news, "The Good News" what a heritage she has had!

We are up at camp and boy would Roy LOVE to have a yard sale with the stuff from the barn here!

OK, one of the first things that struck me was your children in their coordinating clothing to sit outside in the heat at a yard sale. You are something!!!

That is so sweet about Caroline and Haiti. What a girl! Who could resist that little girl.

That is funny about Roy liking garage sales. I HATE THEM! I can't stand storing anything....if we don't use it and use it RIGHT NOW...it gets hauled off. I personally LOVE to shop at garage sales when I get the chance. It send me on a high!
