This week, Caroline is attending a confidence morning camp. She will be learning many concepts, such as how to introduce herself, how to look people in the eye when she speaks to them and how to make and keep friends. Several of her friends are taking it, too, so she really enjoyed it this morning. Here is a little video of what she learned today. It's basically for her Daddy, who is currently in Uganda. Make sure you notice what I managed to capture at the end:
See how he thought what he did was hilarious? I think when it comes to Roy Austin, the phrase "What doesn't kill you will make you stronger" applies...especially to me. I have come to learn in the past few months that apparently he is an angel around everyone else but me! This boy knows how to push my buttons and he does it all day long. Along with pouring the dish soap out in the above video, in the past week, he has:
*Poured out 3 bottles of lotion (not all the way) out all over the upstairs. The first night, Caroline called for me to "come quick!". As I ran upstairs, I smelled a nice lavender-chamomile smell. He managed to squirt lotion all over the hallway, Caroline's room, the playroom and in his shoes. So, I thought I outsmarted him by putting the lotion on his shelf above his changing table. The next night, I was cleaning the kitchen and Caroline was watching TV. RoyBoy was upstairs alone and I didn't hear any noise. I went upstairs and as I turned the corner to his room, there he sat---on his changing table backwards and he said, "Hi, Liney!" until he realized it wasn't Caroline but me. He had a look of panic on his face as he sat there with the lotion bottle upside down in his hands and lotion all over the table and wall. UGGHHH!!
*This past week, I have begun potty training him. Yesterday I was on the phone with Roy when Caroline came running to me with a diaper full of poop. She said "Look what Buddy gave me!!!" I hung up and ran to find him, in the bathroom with poop all over his legs, feet and all over the potty. There was toilet paper everywhere (some with poop on it). I couldn't get too upset because he had the right idea, but still. COME ON!!
So, I am very impatient for Roy to get home. I think these two kids of ours realize that I am single-mommying it and they are enjoying plucking my nerves. I feel so bad for this little baby I'm carrying. I told Roy that I feel like s/he will think I yell all the time! The only saving grace this past weekend has been a Playmobil pirate ship I bought at a consignment shop the other day. The kids have had so much fun playing with it together and today our YMCA membership starts, so as soon as RoyBoy wakes up, we are headed to the pool. Thank you, Jesus!

HA HA HA!!! I absolutely LOVE RA stories...they're the best! That child is hilarious. And Caroline, how cute is she and her little voice? Great idea on the confidence camp. I wonder if they have one here in Greenville for 6 year old boys. Max just stares at people when they say hi to him.
Donna, I'm glad you're still blogging. (thanks for keeping me on the email list too) Why can't your blog motivation rub off on me?
Donna, this is funny! That RA is a cutie for sure. I just laughed when I saw what he did on the video and his laugh when he got caught! FUNNY!
Okay poop story---every mom needs to have a good smeared poop story. Now you have yours.
Also, Maddie was my strong willed one. I remember being pregnant with Dan Dan and crying one night in our kitchen on Chestnut Hill telling Danny, "this cannot be good for the baby in my tummy. I am having to yell all the time at Maddie. I know the baby hears it." ....after that pregnancy, yelling never bothered me again....hmmm
I wish you would have come up this past weekend---I know, I know, it is our turn to come there! Been in your shoes before! Sorry--we will come see you soon.
BTW, Jennifer and every other blogger out there, lets just all give out a be GRRRRR for the stress and pressure we feel about blogging!
Ok. That just made me belly laugh. Ah, I needed that. I'm sorry, Donnie. I know my days coming,
I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling blog guilt/failure/pressure! It's so hard to get back in the saddle and FB is so much quicker/easier. I do miss you girls though!!!
Why do you think Edward is like he is........I was yelling at Will and Roy while I was pregnant with Edward....poor Edward!!!! This new baby will be fine.....and Roy Austin is keeping us entertained!!!! He is so much like his daddy...quiet and into everything! If I couldn't find Roy when he was little and things were quiet then he was into something....making a big mess!
Ah man Donna! I'm laughing so hard but feel so bad for you too. I know you're SO READY for Roy to be home. You do so well taking care of the kids when he's gone. The video cracked me up. Especially RA tipping the soap. And you're right...Caroline DOES egg him on. I love her laugh!
Sorry we aren't there to keep you company today. I'll call you later tonight to discuss tomorrow. Love you!
Oh, and I'm laughing at Jennifer saying that Max just stares at people when they say hello to him. So funny!
haha! I just watched the video again and realized that RA answers, "Buddy" when Caroline says, what's your name? hahaha! He's hilarious!
Every time I read about RA, it reminds me so much of my Avery. I never believed in the birth order quite so much! She STILL squirts out shampoo and toothpaste everyday, all over, if she is not supervised. Good news is,the third is sooo much easier than the 2nd!!
Hey, at least give him credit for squirting out soap - maybe he was actually trying to help you clean!
I'm putting myself in Roy's shoes...watching that while I'm away in Uganda would give me SUCH an appreciation for all you do!
I wondered when RA picked up the soap bottle if he would know how to get it open. Obviously he's done this before. He's adorable! He's got gusto, that kid. :)
And, I love that Caroline didn't want you to pretend to be daddy!
I wondered what was going on in blogworld. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but...I've been holding up my end of the bargain. The problem is, I only have 1 comment under my posts! And most of the time its you and Dolly! So, thanks for the loyalty honeys. :)
Ok Angela, don't you start talking smack now...we'll get back to blogging at some point...Lord willing. :)
That Caroline is PRECIOUS!!! What a fun little idea for kids classes. Does it just kill you that we all think that little RA is adorable - even when squeezing out dish soap everywhere? :)
Uganda has been on my heart lately - that is so cool that Roy is there. I will be praying for him.
Your stories of Roy are great Donna! It helps to know that Leif (my 3 year old) isn't alone with the lotion. We were at a friend's house and he had rubbed lotion all over himself from the bottle he found on their night stand. We found him because he was screaming to get out of the room... he couldn't get out because the door was shut and his hands were so slippery with all the lotion on them. If they weren't so cute.....
I didn't put my name down..
It's me, Kelli, and I still read your blog along with Dolly's :)
