Buddy Budster

Anyone who knows our family well knows that we have nick-named Roy Austin "Buddy". It started a while ago naturally and it has just stuck. Believe me, I never thought I'd call my son "Buddy"! It's like people who call their sons "Bubba"...I just never thought I'd be one of them!! It's gotten to the point now where a lot of people call him Buddy, including the Budster himself. He'll refer to himself as "Buddy" and has only recently started to say "RoyBoy" (I'm working on Roy Austin). It's funny, though, because we'll go into stores and strangers will say "Hey there, Buddy!" and he'll just smile, thinking the whole world knows him by name.

I told Roy that I'm worried he'll end up being called "Buddy Graham" one day. I jokingly told him that Roy Austin's future business card would read: Roy "Buddy" Graham. Well, today he finished his first week of swim class and look what is on his certificate:

Here is a little video of "Buddy" playing with one of his favorite toys and telling his baby's name. Please pardon the video quality. I couldn't find my battery to my nice video camera and had to use our old one that is broken:

If Poopie Baby is a boy, we need to find a different nick-name because there is only one Buddy in this house--especially since he's going to be the middle child! And the nick-name is not going to be "Bubba" Leland, so don't even think about it.

Okay, the Roy Austin "buddy" Graham award is hilarious! Did they do that themselves? So funny!

He's getting so big! It's funny to see the differences in boys and girls playing. Boys sure love the crashing and falling. And you could see in his eyes the excitement of calling his new baby brother or sister, "poopie baby." haha!

Did I ever tell you that my FIL's nickname is Buddy? Funny--I have two Buddy's in my family!

Okay---so funny about the swim certificate. And the video is so cute!

I can totally see how this happens :). I find myself referring to B3 as Buddy, too, even though I cringe When I think of him bringing home his kindergarten papers with "Buddy" written on them. AK calls him "Benny" (where did THAT come from?), and I can't decide which is worse...

Ha ha ha! I'm laughing at the certificate. I don't know why but I'm picturing a big guy named "Buddy" that used to sing in the TRBC choir?! I think he baked cakes or something.

I called both of my boys buddy too. And, I feel really stupid now because I like to call little baby boys "bubba". I wonder if all my friends are secretly gritting their teeth every time I say it! Note to self..."Use the real name...ussssssse the real name!"

That is so funny about Poopie Boy. That does have a nice Graham ring to it. HA!

I think moms are always gulty of calling our babies everything but the name we actually picked out to give them. I think Olivia is just now learning that her given name is Olivia.
