Baby Daddy and a Swinger

Roy Austin's new favorite toy? Baby dolls. Two in particular. He takes them everywhere...the car, Target, outside, to bed. If he wasn't such a typical, 100% boy, I'd be worried. Several friends have told me that their boys went through this baby-doll-loving stage, and even Roy said he had a baby doll when he was little:)

So, meet "Baby Jane". I came out on the back porch the other night and there he was, sitting in the chair taking care of her. He really does do a good job of covering and cuddling:

This is "Baby Michael" (yes, they are named for his littlest cousins). This one is his favorite. He is OBSESSED with this doll and I'm relieved because at least it's a boy doll. Every night at bed time he frantically searches for "Guckqull" brings him to bed and covers him up before laying down. Here is "Daddy" swinging his baby:

He drags around an old camera bag as his babies diaper bag. And normally he drags around 3 blankets:

I'm just hoping that all of this baby doll loving means that he'll love his new sibling. Wouldn't that be great?!

Thanks for all the Poopie advice (see post below if you're confused). I've been ignoring it although it still continues. I asked RoyBoy if his baby was named Jane and he said, "No. Poopie". And while singing songs the other night, I asked the kids what song we should sing next. RoyBoy's reply? You guessed it, "Poopie!"

After preschool on Thursday, I let Caroline skip her nap because we had to go to a birthday party at the park. She hurried and got into her play clothes and ran outside to the swing set. Pretty soon she called me to come look at her and she was swinging so high in the air. She was SO proud of herself because, as she said, she "practiced and practiced all day on the playground at school and now she can swing!". Here is some video and a picture of the first time she swung (is that a word?) all alone! No longer will I have to hear, "Mommy, can you push me?!".

Caroline looks so proud of herself. I'm glad she learned how to swing, and it's so nice that she practiced and practiced at school until she got it right. She's something else. Little guy is precious, too, with his daddy play. Nothing wrong with him taking care of the dolls like that. He is observing a lot, and imitating what he sees. He's a real sweetie. I sure miss all of you!!!

Sweet post! Caroline is so grown up. It is neat when they learn a new thing like swinging or being able to reach the light switch.

Roy Austin is SO funny! Love the baby names! And still laughing at Poopie! I think if I were at your house, I would be the one encouraging him on to say "Pooooooppie!" It is so funny when it is someone else's child!

You're a good momma, Donna. Roy Austin is learning all that nurturing from you!

Caroline was catching some air on that swing! And, your swing is SO quiet! I need to WD40 mine!

Ah man! I read this days ago and read it to Leland while we LOL! I thought I had commented but I guess not.
RA is ADORABLE!!! I love that he has a baby Jane and a baby Michael. We laughed so hard at the pictures of him nurturing his babes. Bless his heart!

And Caroline! She is getting so big. I love that she practiced so much at school. She'll always remember that. I love how sweet you were talking to her too! Having kids makes you just want to encourage like crazy doesn't it? I feel bad for kids who are never encouraged. You're a good momma!

LOL at RoyBoy and his dolls! Oh, that is so cute. Although, this blog post may come back to haunt him when he's a teenager.

Great job, Caroline! She's so cute and what a determined little child. Can she come teach Max how to pump his legs and swing by himself?

This is so cute but baby daddy and Swinger are 2 things you do NOT want your little boy to be...at least not in the midwest! LOL! (Can I say that on here?!?!) Our boys never went through the stage of carrying dolls, but they certainly love to play house (or get married) a lot!!! Love it!
