Good Friday and a Great Saturday

One of the perks about your husband working for a Christian organization is that he always has Good Friday off! I love long weekends, and what a beautiful weekend it has been. We worked in the yard, cleaned out the garage, cooked out and took a long walk together. While we were eating dinner outside, we heard a quiet sound from two yards over. This Chinese family moved in recently and they are never home. Either the mother or mother-in-law lives with them and, bless her heart, she has worked her tail off in their yard this week! I've seen her three days now SQUATTING in the yard and pulling their weeds! Roy took this picture of her to show his mom and my mom what their job is when they come to our house next time. Start stretching, ladies. This woman squats for hours at a time and she's at least 70:

Cue "Dueling Banjos". Roy Austin LOVES these rain boots and wears them all the time at home. He was quite the sight playing outside in his shorts and boots:

Saturday we attended the McGee's annual Easter Egg Hunt. They have the perfect yard for this and everyone always has a blast. Every year it reminds me so much of the Easter Egg Hunt scene from Steel Magnolias:

Caroline and Caleb (who is moving to Greenville, SC this summer. Caroline doesn't know yet. There is going to be one sad girl and mommy in Charlotte this summer:(

Roy Austin didn't know what to think about all the eggs on the ground at first, but he quickly caught on. He would stop and eat the candy along the hunt. He ate 4 pieces of chocolate in a row--foil and all!!! He even found one of the golden eggs filled with money, but he could have cared less. Chocolate is more his speed:

While they were playing, and I was taking pictures, I looked around and couldn't find RoyBoy. He was behind me walking near the creek looking for "gucks" (ducks). Does his face spell trouble or what?!:



We are looking forward to celebrating Easter tomorrow. Caroline has been singing "Up From the Grave, He Arose!" all day! We have all eaten way too much Easter candy, and are looking forward to a yummy dinner tomorrow night. Happy Easter, everyone! We hope your day is filled with fun, family and celebrating Jesus!
