Well, in less than 48 hours, we should be in the sky flying home!!! Yes, the doctors said today that Roy should be able to be released on Wednesday afternoon, so hopefully this is the case:) Roy has improved so well and I thank God for that. Thank all of you, too, for lifting him up. He has enjoyed hearing about all the good wishes and funny emails that have been sent!
Today was another good day. Nothing new. I stayed most of the day at the hospital with him. The therapist told us to walk the long hall 6 times in a row back and forth, so we did that twice today. He finally got to eat something, so he had a few bites of some type of broth for breakfast, a few bites of tomato soup for lunch and for dinner, a few bites of some type of rice soup! Roy is not a soup kind of guy, so now that I know he can eat it, we may be having a soup night in our house one night a week! I love soup! Deanna and I finally discovered that the hotel could make the American version of toasted cheese toast, so we have that for every meal and it's actually something I look forward to:)
We watched a Little House episode today--the one where Laura sells her horse to buy Ma a stove, That's one of my favorite episodes and I cry each time. We also watched Home Alone and Roy laughed so hard at one point that he had to hold his stomach because it hurt so bad to laugh! I played a lot of solitaire while he slept and I listened to my Christmas playlist, which made me homesick. I tell you what--thank God for technology! It's a wonderful thing.
It is pitch black dark over here at 4:00 each day, so it makes it easier to go to bed at night. It's strange, though, how fast it gets dark. It was -8 today...an improvement from yesterday's -20!
I hate leaving Roy each night when I come back to the hotel. I told him tonight that he only has one more night after this one, so we know there's a finality to all of this. He is SO sick of being there. It will be one week that he's been in that place in a few hours. This has been one long, yet fast week. I'm just so thankful that it looks like we'll be back in the USA with our sweet children on Christmas Day--together as a family!!! Again, thank you for praying and please keep at it! We aren't home yet with a sick-free RoyBoy!

Praise the Lord!!! I am so glad to hear that! We will continue to pray as you travel back to the US of A!!
I know the Little House epside you mention - that one is a tear jerker for sure! Good to hear you all watched Home Alone - that one is so funny! Glad you and Deanna are getting cheese toast over there too :)
Yay for good reports! Phew! We will pray for Roy to be released and feeling good for the trip home. How long is the flight? What a special Christmas this will be for your family!
We're praying praying praying here!!
Has the food been horrible?
\
YEAH! What a great report! I'm so glad to hear Roy is doing better. I cannot imagine how bored and tired of laying there he must be. He must be itching a lot huh? hahaha! Thank God for Technology is right! I'm so glad you're there with him but I'll be even more glad when all three of you are back for good! I know you miss your kids. We'll keep praying. ILY
Dah, Inger. Actually, that is not how you say yes in Polish. Polish is VERY complicated and very hard to even repeat a simple word like
"thank you". Good thing for interpreters!
DOLLY! I'm literally laughing out loud over here in my little room with CNN International on! Ironically, Roy is not itchy. (side note, everyone: when Roy gets bored or really tired, he his feet and legs start to itch! Weird, I know!). I'll have to remind him of this tomorrow. I know what he'll say, though: "You girls! Every time you get together you act so stupid...."
Laughing at the itchy! FUNNY!
So happy to hear that Roy is feeling better! I have been praying for you both.
LOVE that Little House episode! I have it on DVD and Peyton and I watch it every year at Christmas.
WOO-HOO!!!! I am so happy for you!!! That is amazing that after all of this, you will make it home for Christmas. Thank you Lord!!!
Won't it be wonderful to present Roy with that Pogo stick you got him for Christmas in the comfort of your own home? WHAT MEMORIES!!!
I wish I could be a fly on the wall and see you all in Poland. I have a feeling we are in for a mighty funny post in the weeks to come.
That is hilarious about the itching. At first, I thought it might have involved the "nether regions". HA!
Now that's what I call a Christmas miracle. I'm so glad you guys are coming home. I bet you'll bawl when you see your kiddos on Christmas. Donna, you've been a good wife during all of this.
Wasn't the horses name Bunny? My favorite is watching Carrie buy the tin foil star from Nels for a penny when it actually costed 5 cents. Jason and I would crack up though when she said.."Happy Birf day baby Jesuth."
By the way, I'll never think of the words nail "polish" the same way again. :)
God is Good!!! I am so glad to hear that you will be home for Christmas. I will be praying for safe travels home.
Donna, you have been so good about the updates on facebook and here on your blog. Thank goodness for technology is right...it certainly allows communication to be so much easier and we so appreciate the updates.
I am THRILLED to hear that you should be home for Christmas. You, Roy and the children are all in my prayers. What a blessing that Roy is healing so well and I am glad you are safe and have such a great travel companion with you and the blessing of a translator.
Much love!
I can't wait until the pictures are posted...=)
Also, what in the world must -20 feel like, Donna? Unreal.
You almost had me tearing up just thinking about that Little House. It is a good one! So glad to hear about Roy. I know you all will cheer when the wheels lift off the Polish soil and head home.
FG was on Fox tonight...little Juette said he needed to be home taking care of C and RA!
Can't wait to see you...thanks for the updates. Love you both.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Hope to see a Christmas post in the good ol' U S of A!
Great news! Looking forward to hearing you are in the US! Will continue to pray...
Angela! I loved all the details you remembered about that episode. Yes, Roy thinks Carrie is so annoying on that show, but I think she's cute. Nels gave her a 4cent deal on that star that she kept staring at in the mercantile. Oh, but when Ma realizes that Laura sold Bunny to buy her that stove for Christmas, hand me a kleenex! So sad. I LOVE LITTLE HOUSE!
Donna, I'm so excited for you guys! I am sitting her thinking how amazing God is....here you have all this technology to let people from all over know to pray and when you read responses and email it's little encouragements to you. You see God KNEW you could do this and you proved FAITHFUL! I'm amazed how even when things seem dark HE always knows how to pull us through! Just think of it this way you got to go to Poland, even though the circumstances weren't the best, I'm sure you were a blessing to those around out there! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
