Thanksgiving '09

On Thanksgiving morning, we drove up to Asheville to spend Thanksgiving with Roy's side of the family. We all met at the Cove, where a big Graham crowd plus some friends met for a feast. Here are my two handsome boys getting ready to go eat some turkey!:

RoyBoy was a little man for Thanksgiving!:

We were so excited that Anthony Evans came this year. He and Roy were friends in college and Dolly was good friends with him, too, so it was a treat to be able to see him and catch up:

RoyBoy and his cousin, Hannah, were able to eat together and catch up, too!:

Every year after we eat, we all get up one at a time and say what we're thankful for. This can catch people by surprise--especially if it's their first year eating with the family. I like to remind or give a heads up to guests during lunch so they can have time to prepare their speech. Here is Roy's cousin, Aram, and Anthony saying what they're thankful for. Aram sat next to me at lunch and let's just say that I think I laughed all of my Thanksgiving calories off. He is hilarious! You should have seen his and Anthony's face when I told them about the thankful thing. They were both nervous, but did great:

And then it came time to get a picture of the great-grandchildren with Daddy Bill. Something told me that RoyBoy would not stay put while all the cameras were going off, so here is Daddy Bill with some of his great-grandchildren and me!:

Roy Austin loved the Nativity display in the lobby and he kept climbing in to kiss baby Jesus:

We went back to Boone that afternoon to spend a few days with Roy's family. After we put the kids to bed, Kristy and I were very close to going to the outlets at midnight, but our father-in-law talked us out of it. We were tired anyway, but it would have been fun! Jane and Roy watched our kids for us ALL day on Friday so we could go have a fun girls day. We hit a few stores, went to Panera and then hit the outlets were we found some GREAT sales! We also went and saw Blind Side. It was such a good movie and I highly recommend it.

Then on Saturday, we went to go cut our tree down. Kristy and Hannah came with us and the cousins all had fun together although it was freezing outside:

Roy Austin had a blast running in the open field. He wiped out a few times but that didn't stop him:

Here we are with our tree!:

It was a fun, cold and busy weekend! Now it's on to decorating the house, baking, Christmas music and Christmas activities! I love it!

So much to comment on.

1. Small's here's your post!
2. It is funny how Anthony always pops up every so often---us at Sharky's, then at our church, then with you at the Cove---funny.
3. Who took you and Christy's picture at the outlets?
4. Way to put Christy way in the back of the truck the day you go the Christmas tree. But you know what, that may have been the best place to be. A see all to herself!

Can't wait to see you in a bit sweetie! Love you! Thanks for the pictures

Gooood recap, Donna! Seriously, does Roy Boy look cute enough to eat in that suit? Oh my goodness, where do you get clothes like that? Old Navy?

Well that does it...I will not be attending the Graham thanksgiving next year. Are you kidding me? You have to get up in front of all those people and talk? I'm breaking out in hives just thinking about it. So, what was your spiel? Thankful for your blog friends?

Oh, and where are the outlets that are close to Boone?

Pretty tree...can't wait to see it all decorated!

Denise:

1. Yes, Smalls...here is your post.
2. I forgot that you saw Anthony at Sharky's. Funny!
3. Some random man who I asked.
4. Kristy was in the back and then I told her that Roy was going to meet us there with a pick-up truck so she moved into the front seat.

What a fun weekend! RA looks SO ADORABLE in his little man suite. So funny and so opposite from his personality. I love it!
It's so funny that Anthony spent Thanksgiving with ya'll and so nice! And that guy Armon (I can't remember how to spell his name) looks like he'd be cracking me up the whole time too!
You are one traveling and busy girl! Glad to have you in the burg for one night

What!!!! What!!!!! What!!!! Non-Graham-related people were at the festivities????? Others outside the fold get invited????? HMMMMM???????? Keep giving Paw-Paw his vitamins and I will be at Graham Thanksgiving 2010.

OK, I love that little suit. It made me laugh. He looks like a shrunken Roy. I miss boys dressing up like they used to. It looks like you had a great Thanksgiving full of fun festivities. I love your tree. That is one thing I have never done in my life. My parents always had an artificial tree and I have always had one as well. I'm too practical for my own good. One of these days, I am going to have a real Christmas tree. GOOD POST, Donna!!!! GOOD POST!!!

Great post Donna! Looks like fun!

Roy Austin IS quite the lady killer in his suit! Wish I had a boy...
I am jealous of the shopping time..Scott has promised Sacramento and Ruth's Chris...we shall see.

Blindside=Awesome I saw it with my girls but I want Scott and his dad to see it together because they have "saved" so many kids over the years I think it would be an encouragement!

Kristy, you are so so so funny! I am going to call you when I come to Rockwall! You are welcome to come to the Luff Thanksgiving anytime! (although we are NOT prestigious AT ALL!)
