Rant

It's bad enough when men cheat on their wives, but when a public figure does it? Do they think they're not going to get caught? When I heard on The View this morning that Gov. Mark Sanford was "missing" and then located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I didn't want to believe the speculation that he was having an affair. He is a Christian and a pretty good governor, so I didn't want to think that he would give into temptation like that.

Then I saw the Fox News news conference where he admitted an ongoing affair with a friend for the past year. Ugh! It made me so mad. Why or how do people think they are going to get away with committing adultery? He said that the affair began with them just being friends, confidants who passed advice back and forth and then it turned into a sexual relationship. I mentioned it in my Jon and Kate soap box rant a few weeks ago and I'll say it here, too......the second you allow a member of the opposite sex into your life to give you advice, confide in, and become a "friend" you have overstepped the line. Governor Sanford is a Christian and he should have known better. I know we are all flawed and subject to sin each and every day, but when things like this happen, it just makes me so mad! The news is wondering if this will affect the Republican party. Who cares! It is affecting his wife and two young sons.

Donna, I think he wanted it out in the open. I was discussing it with Glenn and that he knew going down there it would all be open. The fact that his wife has known for several months and he came back and said the relationship has ended to the public indicates to me that he wanted it public knowledge.

My prayer is that he and his wife can find the love they knew when they were dating and chose one another as their spouse. God is the ultimate healer on all levels and we can be in prayer that their relationship can be renewed.

P.S. It is upsetting as we are hearing of marital infidelity on what seems like a daily basis. Please know that my comment above was just my thoughts that he wanted it all out there in the open.

You are right. I was reading some idiot's comment earlier on a news page and they felt that it didn't matter as long as he was a good governor....Are people crazy? If he will deceive(LIE) his wife and children then he will do them same to others. Private life and public life affect each other. It makes me sad that we Christians mess up soooo badly!!!!!

Amen! Amen! I agree 100% and am sick and tired of hearing about a new situation every day. Not just for famous people on TV, but also for so many friends. I also agree with what you are saying about letting a member of the opposite sex into your life for advice, friendship, etc...NOT GOOD!

I am laughing at Denise saying True dat. Funny!

denise your funny...true dat!

it makes me so sad! I think he has four children too. Another family torn apart by the seams. You play with fire and ya end up gettin burned.
My husband had to do some traveling locally with a woman for work. and he never rode in the car with her or ate lunch with her alone. Everyone made fun of him. But he didn't care and i was also happy. I didn't trust her at all. I called her the black widow....
