Containers in my pantry...
...storage Bins in our garage...
...and I'm starting to organize one of the closets in the playroom. This is helping me to get started:
2. My mother-in-law gave me this WONDERFUL washcloth in my stocking last Christmas. I have ranted and raved about it, which makes Cissie and Jane laugh, but this is the BEST kitchen washcloth ever. It's crocheted (sp??) and very thick. The best part is, it has yet to get that nasty, old washcloth smell that sometimes happens if a washcloth sits out too long. It has never smelled musty, no matter how long it has sat in the sink. Does anyone make these? I'd love to buy some more!!!

3. This floor cleaner is.....well, Fabuloso! I use a vinegar/water solution to mop my floors. I add a little of this stuff and my house smells great! The type I get is a lavender scent and I like it because it doesn't have a chemical smell:
4. My friend, Jenny, gave me this tip at a Mary Kay Party recently and it's a good one. What do you do with all of those old, personalized burp cloths? I received so many for Roy Austin and I hated to just throw them out. Caroline has claimed a few for her baby dolls, but I had tons left. Well, Jenny gave me the good idea to cut them in half and use them as dust cloths. Brilliant! I tried this yesterday when I spent 5 hours deep cleaning my house. The cloth was the perfect fabric for dusting. I'm throwing all my nasty rags out and from now on, I will dust the house in true "Roy" and "RGA" fashion:

Donna, loved the post! I think one of my mom's customers makes and sells those dishcloths. Let me know if you want me to check with her. You're right, they last forever!! My mom has had several for years.
As for the floor cleaner is that what Joanne uses? Where do you buy it? Speaking of Joanne, what in the world made you clean for 5 hours yesterday? I know your house could never be that dirty, especially with Roy gone! :)
I love those washcloths too! If anyone (Jane) knows where to find them, please do tell!!!!
I AMEN what you said about the washcloth. I know a lady who makes them. She is in her 80's and she knits them to pass the time. I have worn mine out and was just thinking this week that I would love more. I will call her and feel her out.
Those are the best wash cloths! My mom is going to teach Anna to crochet this summer, and I just told her that I want her to make me some!!
I LOVE cleaning house! I am a Lemon Pine-sol girl myself, but I believe I will try the Fabuloso out now that a have read a testimonial!
Good informative post. Angela (Crumbs) made me some of those wash clothes when I first got married and I LOVE it too! It really soaks up water too when you're wiping down your counters.
I'm with Chrystal and want to know where you get that fabuloso stuff. Never heard of it but love the name!
I buy Fabuloso at Target. I think Sams Club sells it, too. It's great!
Alright Mrs. Graham get your little self up here and help your mother in law. You should be ashamed of yourself spending all that time organizing your house when you should have been up here helping your favorite mother in law!!!!! I need help....
I can actually make those dish rags. I just need to sit down and make some. Maybe this summer in Alaska....How does that sound? I will also buy some more when I go to Montana. I got those from the Hutterite Colonies in Montana. Ya'll look those up. Interesting lives they live!!!!
Good tips. I have always wanted a lable maker. Good to know they have them at AC Moore. I have a coupon and might run over there today to check it out.
Do you wash your wood floors with vinegar? I haave not heard of that before but might give it a try with that fabuloso!
Laughing at Jenny's tip about the burp cloths. I called her and told her you gave her a shout out!
Can I hire you for the weekend? Name your price! I like cleaning and organizing, but it seems it takes me forever, and at the end I am just not happy with my results.
Mom, colonies...seriously? Maybe "cult" would be a better word. HAHA Anyways get your hands moving mom, we all want some more dish rags.
The vinegar solution is easy: Add 1 cup white vinegar to a gallon of warm water. Then add in the fabuloso. Like I said, it isn't a chemical smell and it makes the entire house smell good.
Jane, yes....you go ahead and make about 20 of those washcloths for all of us:)
Donna, my little heart is pitter-pattering away right now! I make these dishcloths ALL THE TIME! I have started selling them on ebay. They are all I EVER use. They're great because they're "knobby" and get the crud off the counter in a snap! I will send you some at no charge (when I send your running playlist:) I was JUST going to do a post about my dishcloths and put the word out that if people want them, I'll make them. Crazy.
Oh, I just saw that Jane makes them too.
Well, let's see...Jane, how about a little dishcloth "crochet off"? (Instead of a cook-off) ha! Actually, yours are probably much prettier than mine. Mine are simple. I can't do the ruffly edges. I keep my crochet needle and yarn with me in the car and everywhere. Whenever I have time, I just go to town. People are probably tired of getting dishcloths from me as gifts!
I have to agree with you on 2 points: My mom knits washcloths like that and they are the best! Once I got over worrying about getting them dirty (mom assured me she could make more!) I also learned the burp cloth trick from my mom...they work better than anything else for dusting....it's just too bad they don't do the dusting themselves!
I sooo need to get one of those label makers. I've heard Nancy talk about hers forever! I think once I get started with it though - look out! I'll be labeling the boys underwear!
OK , now I'm going to obsess until I find one of those washcloths! Angela, how do I find you on ebay?
Fabulouso is fabulous-o! Everytime someone comes in to my house after I have been cleaning they compliment the smell - so funny. my kids think it looks like somethign to drink - thank you child proof cap!
I love love love my label maker! Ben knew I was in full nesting mode when I attacked the baby's closet with it in hand. I also love those dishrags. I have made a few, but I've postponed my knitting career for more immediate gratification crafts for now. And for Fabuloso - I love it. I once bought a maid at the grocery store, and she introduced me to it. I just wish I could find the rainbow of flavors here that we had in Mexico. And as for those fancy dust cloths - the one with the diamond monogram is my favorite :) !
Kristin!! 2 things...first off, I'm laughing that you BOUGHT A MAID at the grocery store!! People, Kristin lived in Mexico for a while after she first got married and she has good stories from those days:)
Also, I hated to cut that burp cloth in half because it was literally my favorite burp cloth I received!!! Thanks for giving me some high class dust rags:)
I have always wanted a label maker. I may get carried away with it though and that is what has stopped me from buying one :)
GOOD POST Donna! It makes me want to get my labeler out and do some labeling .
You are a wonderful HOMEMAKER!
Just catching up. Great post. I too LOVE the smell of Fabuloso. Stacey got me onto the stuff and it is the BOMB. It is cheap too! Like .97 at WalMart. The Purple is the ONLY way!
okay...you are organized! I would hate for you to see my pantry. And thats funny that Roy sneaks in and labels his hunting stuff. funny...but my husband is more organized than me. hmmmm... you just gave me a great fathers day gift idea. Ha..
and if you find more of those wash clothes let me know. mine always get that musty smell. yuck..
Okay, I'm way behind on commenting because I just saw Angela's post on her washcloths and asked if her washcloths were the ones you were talking about. Duh.
Some good tips, Donna. I want to be like you in my next life. :)
great ideas, donna!
i love the label maker....reminds me of monica on friends. she LOVED her label maker!
