WWU

Here is another wrap-up of our weekend. I am not going to do this each Monday, just when something worth mentioning takes place:) First off, a big thank you goes out to my sweet mother-in-law, Jane Graham, for helping me out last week. Roy Austin has been a handful to take care of recently. I needed a break from my baby boy very badly, so he went to spend a few days with Nana last week. Come to find out, she had a busy week, but still took him without mentioning any of it! Thank you so much, Jane. I truly enjoyed having only one child....and a little bit of time all to my lonesome during the school day on Thursday:)

Speaking of having only one child, Roy and I took advantage of this and spent some quality time with Caroline. On Thursday night, the three of us went bowling and had a great time. Caroline loved it and actually beat us. She had the help of the gutter-guards and the rolling device, though:

Doesn't she look like a little Duggar? Bowling in a dress and tights?! It honestly didn't click with me until we got to the sports complex. I promise we are not legalistic and she is allowed to wear "slacks". She looked adorable in her little shoes:

Friday we went up to Boone to pick up Roy Austin but also to attend a surprise birthday party for Christie Haas (who needs to comment on my blog. She's a LURKER!!!). Christie and her husband used to watch Roy and his siblings when their parents went out of town. They are great friend of the family. Wasn't her cake was beautiful?:

It was nice being in Boone for the night because Cissie and Corey were there along with Wil and 2 of his kids. Saturday, our children and I had to leave town after lunch because we had to attend a birthday party in Charlotte. Roy stayed back in Boone to attend a surprise 60th Birthday party for another family friend. By the end of the weekend, we were birthday'd out! Before we left Boone, we all went to Chick-fil-a for some yummy lunch, where we met the Haas family:

This is our nephew, Quinn. He is a sweet little boy and he loves Ranch dressing:

Now, here comes the deep part of my post:

Last week in my Bible study, I read a verse that really spoke to me. Zephaniah 3:17 states that The Lord rejoices over me with gladness. He delights in me with shouts of joy. I think as a parent that I love my children so much, so deeply. The children can drive me crazy at times, but each night when I check on them before I go to bed, they are sleeping so sweetly that I become overwhelmed with love for them. How much more does God love me? He does in a way I can't even begin to comprehend. And how comforting to know that even though I probably drive Him crazy most of the time, He NEVER needs a break from me.

This week--another big consignment sale! Dolly is actually coming into town to help volunteer at it so we can go to the early sale. Is she a good new Mommy or what?! Auntie Dawnie is coming to visit with her, too, so it will be a fun sisters weekend. Get ready, Roy.....some of the hens are coming:)

That was REALLY NICE of Jane to take RA2 off your hands for a while. I'm sure she enjoyed having him for a few days too. It looks like Caroline LOVED bowling. Her face looked so happy. That was a great idea to do with just her. Did she miss her brother at all?

I can't wait to Divine Consign this week. Can you just hear me saying, "whooohooooooo" as the doors open and all the ladies come pouring through to find their deals? Get ready! I might embarrass you!

Roy Boy and I had a great time. I loved having so many of my family come in. House is a wreck but now I realize it is always that way. All mothers need a break every now and then. We appreciate our children more and there is nothing wrong with needing a break. I don't even have little ones any more and I need a break from "someone else" sometimes!!!! If you know what I mean........

Oh how I would LOVE to see you girls at that consignment sale. If only I could be a fly on the wall. Now is Top Dawg going to be the designated driver if you both are on a shopping high when it is over?

I love the wrap-up of the weekend. I laughed at the "slacks" comment. We know you aren't Michelle Duggar. You don't have a mullet and wear denim skirts all the time. Ha! C always looks so cute and feminine. I hope Olivia develops a love for dresses unlike me when I was little.

Jane, you are a good Mother-in-law!

No matter how many children you have it always seems easier with one less, then, you cannot wait to get that one back so your family can be complete again.

Laughing at Caroline bowling in a dress.

Wish I was at the sale with you girls. Have fun!

I actually had a break from all 3 on Friday night! My in laws took the little ones up to the "Big House" at the camp and Shae went to a slumber party!!

Phew...it is so fun to have the house to yourself, even if you just clean!

It really is good for you and Roy to spend time with Caroline alone, sometimes it is hard to be the oldest!

On Saturday morning (while Scott was at the airport attending a pilot safety seminar) Shae called me to tell me she was coming home in a little bit, and she asked if I would like to go to lunch with her! YOU BET I WENT! Gotta take advantage of those invitations..and one on one time!
Scott did call to see where I was, and asked if he could come, we said yes (cause then he would PAY) You should have seen Shae all snuggled up to him! It was so fun, and so sweet to be with my big girl without the distraction of "the sistas"!

Great verse and such good reminder of what angst I must cause God but how he keeps hanging around me. :)

That picture of Caroline with the rolling thing looks like Caroline is using a walker...poor thing. Now, why bowling? Is that something she likes to do or something new you wanted to try with her?

That birthday cake was so pretty and cool!

That Jane's a keeper! :)

Is there an age limit for the bowler helper? I might need one of those. Caroline is so precious in her tiny bowling shoes!

Had fun seeing you guys. Wish it was for longer!

Love the Duggar/slacks reference!

Thanks for the "deep thoughts." Isn't it wonderful that His Word is living and active and can penetrate our hearts while we meditate on them during our busy days?
