She Did It!

A few weeks ago, I was trying to think of an incentive to get Caroline to wake up dry every morning. She is potty trained but still wears a pull-up at night. She'll be four in a few weeks, and I knew she could wake up dry if she really tried, so we took her to the Build-a-Bear store in the mall and told her that if she could wake up dry every day for a week, she could come back and pick out any animal she wanted! This got her excited, but she still kept waking up with a wet pull-up each morning. Well, that all changed last week when she went one, then two, then three days and so on with a dry pull-up! Today was the final day of her challenge. I woke up several times throughout the night just hoping that she'd wake up dry. She knew that we'd go to "Polar Bear", as she calls it, if there was no tinkle in her pull-up. As I was drying my hair this morning, she pushed open the bathroom door and announced, "I'M DRY!". She was so giddy, I was jumping up and down and clapping, she started jumping up and down and clapping and then said, "I WON!". So after swim class, we met Daddy at the mall where the fun began:

There were so many choices, it was a little overwhelming. She picked up the first animal she saw and said that was the one she wanted. She didn't know there could be so many choices! We made her look them all over first, and of course she put the panda back for a new animal:

Sorry, Buddy. You have to wake up dry for 7 days before you can get one. Keep trying.

Jessica, this cool T-Rex is getting ready to retire. Caroline said Caleb would love it!

Caroline decided on a cute little bunny rabbit. She chose this one because the insides of the ears are the same material as her beloved pink blankie:) She chose a heart to put inside the bunny and stuffed her with fluff:

Ladies and Gentlemen.....may I present to you the newest member of our family: FLOPSY GRAHAM all decked out in her new summer dress complete with big girl panties, hair bows and crocs:

We went to Chick-fil-a afterwards where Caroline and Flops enjoyed their own private table and spent some time getting to know each other better.
Caroline loves this rabbit. When we got home, I opened the car doors to get the kids out and she said, "Shhhhh, Mommy! Flopsy is sleeping.". She has now introduced her to our house and all the toys and tomorrow she will be going to show-and-tell.
Ahhhh, I love incentives!! Now comes the hard part....do I put her in panties tonight when she goes to bed? I'm a little noivous!!!!

Yay for Caroline!!!! I know she's proud of herself, and so are we. I wonder if she'll keep her Flopsy and love her like Maddie does her "Hoppy"? Remember when Maddie made her? I think they still sleep together!

I say to put Caroline to bed tonight with just panties and see what happens. Make sure you have a rubber sheet on the mattress, though. Maybe her new little friend will remind her that she has to stay dry at night from now on. Let us know how things go.

Congratulations! I missed you and Jessica at the library today, but what a great reason to miss.

Yes, I would put her in regular underwear this evening - she can do it...for sure! Tell her that the bunny will be with her if she wakes up in the night and needs to go to the potty.

That is awesome! So fun that you don't have to spend money on pull ups for Caroline any longer.

Love the photographs!

awwww... what a big Girl!!! Good for her! I would keep the pullups on for a couple more days. Just to make sure...and then you could make it another big deal when she doesn't EVER have to wear pull ups again. Another flopsy?? :)

Ah, I smiled the whole time while reading this post. You can tell she is SO PROUD of herself. You can tell her that Aunties Dolly and Dawn are coming to see her and she'll want to stay dry so she can tell us all about it.

I LOL at Caroline sitting at her own table with Flops so they could get to know each other. So funny!

Yah! For Caroline! What an accomplishment.

Put her in big girl panties tonight for sure - you can put a pull-up over the panties. That way IF she wets her pants in her sleep, she will feel it and recognize what has happened, but you won't be changing sheets/night gowns/ blankets in the middle of the night either!

Happy Day at the Grahams house for sure!

Oh, and yes..she wears panties to bed!

You can always wash the bedding, but you MUST let her wear panties (and have her go potty right before she goes to bed..right before!)

GOOOOOOD Luck! I can't wait to hear how it goes!

What an adorable story -- and GOOD for you for setting the challenge and seeing it through! I KNOW it will be one of those "memories" Caroline won't forget when she's older!
DEFINITELY put the panties on her and reinforce her accomplishment right before she goes to bed....no turning back! :) She has proven she's ready.

Congrats Caroline!! What a big girl. Donna, I am proud of you. I have a 6 year old at my house (won't name any names) that is still having trouble waking up dry!

What a great story! You tell Roy that I am proud of him for going with you guys and making a big deal out of it for Caroline. That is great of him to do that.

I'm with everybody else. Time for the panties. I hope tonight is a good night for you and you aren't changing sheets in the middle of the night. You might want to explain the Clean Sheet Monday concept to Caroline in detail before she goes to sleep and remind her that it is Wednesday. Ha!

Good job Caroline! So cute about Flopsy and what a great idea...I'll store that in my memory for the future for sure.

Now, when you say you were sure she could stay dry overnight, do you think she was waking up and then going in her pullup...just didn't want to get up and go to the bathroom? Max doesn't wet the bed, but I still have to tell him to go to the bathroom right when he gets up. Why do children not want to do that? I just don't get it. Anyway, what a great accomplishment and now, hopefully, you don't have to use your coupons on pullups! :

GREAT JOB CAROLINE!!! I can see her face now when she woke up dry! Tell her we can not wait to meet FLOPSY!

What happened to the princess outfit, I thought she had her heart set on?

Awww Mannn, where did my comment go?? I bet I got distracted by some little crumb snatcher and got called away from the computer and then some other crumb snatcher swooped in and went to another web page....Hmmmm

Anyway,
Oh Happy Day! (Oh happy day)
Oh Happy Day! (Oh happy day)
When Caroline (when Caroline)
Wears big girl panties to bed (big girl panties to bed!)

Congrats to you Donna! Only one pack of Pampers now!

How'd she do last night?

And, btw, I bet that BAB ends up naked. No matter how many clothes you buy for the BAB's they always lay around the house unclothed.

Tell Flopsy Graham that Bear Logan would like to meet her this Spring Break!
