I am lucky to say that I benefit from a few friends who have the blessed talent of sewing/monogramming. Recently, I had a few things made my two of these friends and I wanted to share them with you. Some of these things would make great birthday gifts, Easter basket stuffers or just a nice gift for no reason at all!
First, we have an adorable poncho made by my friend,
Nikki:

Nikki recently started making these and she sent one to Caroline last week. She wore it to church yesterday and loved it. I loved the ease of putting it on and off of Caroline in the car--so much easier than a bulky coat!! It is SO soft and so cute! Check out her
store website for more information on these and the cute pillowcase dresses she makes that are now available. Some pillowcase dresses I've seen out there are just plain tacky, but not Nikki's. They are very clean and classy looking. The dresses would be perfect for Easter or for a nice beach picture, which Caroline will have taken when we go this summer.
Nikki also whipped these up for me:

These cute little monogrammed pillows/sachets contain some of the tree needles from my children's first Christmas trees! They are exactly what I wanted. Thanks, Nikki!!
Next up, is my friend
Jessica. Jessica makes the cutest things, too. I bought a little seersucker dress the other day and she appliqued this on it:

Caroline calls it her "Sebastian" dress. Jessica can applique anything on anything! I had her do some other applique and personalized work for me and it is all so cute. I can't wait for summer time for Caroline to wear the goods! Jessica also makes these sippy cups, which would be a great Valentine's surprise or Easter basket stuffer for your little one:

These cups are so easy to clean and they are spill-proof. I love them. She also has recently started making monogrammed hair bows and they are adorable! Check out her
website to see the other great things she makes.
And I wanted to pass along some news about a great new business that our fellow blogger,
Joy Chafin, is starting.
Monogram Matchers.com will be open to the public around April. Joy had the brilliant idea of starting a website (a little like Ebay) that only sells new or gently used monogrammed or personalized clothes, purses, household goods or
anything that is monogrammed. How many times have you had one of your child's outfits monogrammed or personalized and then it just sits in the back of the closet or you put in the Goodwill pile? I know that I always put a "C" or an "R" on my kids' clothes because I know their monograms won't resell. Well, now I"m going to put a cGe and an rGa back on those clothes because I'll be able to sell them to someone out there with those same monograms!! This idea is so great, Joy. Congratulations on this new project. I can't wait to hear more about it and sell my stuff (and buy!).

Funny title to your post. You do have some nice friends sweetie. Cute poncho--remember when we were little and we all wore those white poncho/shaw (spelling???) things. THOSE were so GRANDMA. Nikki's are cool. I remember when she sold them on ebay.
Jessica's things are neat. Are those cups dishwasher safe?
It's sure nice to have FOBs. I need to order one of those Christmas needle pouches! I still have AP's 1st needles in a ziploc baggie. That crab jumper matches something crabby you got for RA2 doesn't it??!? Also, LOVE the poncho. Will have to remember that idea. Great work, Nikki, Jess and CAN'T WAIT, Joy!
ps. what's yo story for yo love song today?!?
Jessica just finished Margaret Ruth's first birthday party dress...It is too cute! I will post some pictures on my blog today! All of these women are so talented! I wished that I had learned how to sew!
Thanks for the shout-out, Donna! I've been hard at work this morning, but reading my friends' blogs is so much more fun. I'm very excited about all that is to come. I'll keep you posted!
Great free advertising. It's good you have connections. Nikki is my monogram person here in the burg and she does a GREAT job. I love the little sachets she made you too. Turned out great! And Caroline looks adorable in her goods.
Thanks Donna! You are so nice to post this and send some business my way. Sorry the poncho looks a little big. Since I have never seen Caroline in person ( well, since she was a baby) I was guessing at the size. At least she can grow into it for a few years! :)
And that Jessica makes some cute stuff! I really admire people who can do appliques like that. WOW! Julie D tried to teach me one time but I had no patience and she kept telling me I was trying to rush it and I needed to slow down on the machine. I gave up.
Cute idea to save the pine needles from their first Christmas tree! I've never heard of that before. And the little pouches - adorable. Love the little poncho, the sippy cups - love it, love it, love it. That little Caroline is cute as a button!
I'm excited to see what Valentine crafts you come up with for your kids.
Nikki, the poncho is perfect--size and all. I'm glad that she can wear it the rest of this winter and probably next, too:)
Angela, now you're putting pressure on me for V-day crafts. I didn't think of that. I prefer to do more edible crafts around V-Day:) Cookies, brownies.....Hence my no dessert until V-Day experiment!!
Precious! I do love monograms! Caroline is a perfect model! Clever and creative friends you have!
And what a GREAT idea to sell the monogrammed things on ebay...you know someone else has the same monogram somewhere!
Thanks for sharing!!
Oh this stuff is good. I just love the pillowcase dress you gave Caroline - and can.not.wait. to have her picture made in it this summer on the beach.
I will now be ordering a poncho - oh the versatility. I'm thinking the same color combo you have for Caroline!
Precious stuff! Sophia would love that poncho! I need to go order one. Cute for church.
Also...I just mailed your gift today.. We had bad weather with school out..blah blah blah, and then Brody boy got sick and well, you know. It just didn't get done. Its in the mail....ever heard that one before??:)
Thanks Donna! I'm glad Caroline likes her Sebastian dress. That poncho is adorable! I love it and want one for Kathryn!
Good song for today by the way!
I already mentioned to Nikki that I love that poncho. I think because I'm like Denise who loved wearing those when I was young...and the colors, ribbon are so great!
I checked out Jessica's blog too and besides the fact that her stuff is adorable, it appears she's a Greenville gal...can't go wrong with that!
Jennifer, I LOVED wearing my "shawl" when I was little, too. It was a white sweater thing with fringe on the ends and little slits for my arms. I thought I was somthin' else.
Yes, Jessica is a Greenville girl. Her parents still live there and her Dad pastors a church (I forgot the name)!! She's a good girl:)
What beautiful items!
So cute, Nikki! Peyton still has hers that you made for her. It's getting a bit short in the tummy area, but she doesn't care!
Caroline looks so cute and looks like she likes the modeling gig!!
Thanks for the heads up. I need to get to shopping.
Cute items, Donna!!
