"Mom" Went Back.

Second child syndrome hit our house again. I literally had to force myself to make an appointment at Portrait Innovations to get Roy Austin's 1 year picture taken...at 15 months. I knew it would have to be during his morning nap time, which equals a bad idea plus the added bonus of him not sitting still. I went in with a plan: Whatever they did, I was NOT going to buy their most expensive package no matter how hard they tried to sell it to me. I do not need more envelopes full of pictures of my kids stuffed in a drawer. All I really needed was one black and white 8x10 of our boy for our wall collage. I ended up going with the three pose package, which was still more than I wanted to spend.

I had some great people helping me this time, and although they did refer to me as "Mom", it didn't bother me like the last time. "Okay, Mom. Fix his collar". "Mom, stand off to the side, please". It made me laugh to myself because it's so soap opera-ish. You know how on soaps, the actors refer to doctors as "Doctor" or a nurse as "Nurse". Who does that?! I don't mind...I am a mom, and it's funny to think of me being referred to as "Mom" by another adult. Oh, and they only called Roy Austin, "Austin" a few times. Again, I laughed to myself.

Anyway, it was slim pickins' when it came to picking out what will forever be Roy Austin's 1 year picture. He was all over the place chasing "dahs" (balls) but I had to pick these three poses:

Pardon the drool mark under his monogram. We're experiencing a bad time at teething and I didn't catch it before it hit the nice clean outfit.

And just for kicks, this picture was the start of the photo session--Roy Austin slouched in the chair, trying to escape. "Mom" was cringing by this point:

So, don't be surprised if you receive a little wallet sized picture of RA2 in your mailbox! Once again, I have to get rid of some shots.

THESE ARE PRECIOUS!!!! He has the sweetest, most angelic little smile. I hate nothing worse than getting my children's pictures taken. It just about gives me shingles and I leave frazzled, sweating, and exhausted.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the second picture. What a handsome little guy. It's good you went through with the picture taking and got it done. You need to find a photographer like Stephanie or Kathi that can come to your house and get it done there.

The three you selected are precious. Roy Austin has a great smile and the monogrammed outfit is stunning.

They're all beautiful. It's always so hard to pick out one or two pictures from the bunch that were taken. I'm sure they were all very nice. Can't wait to get one so I can replace the one in my office where he's wearing the little froggy outfit. Not that it's not a good picture, but he's grown up so much since then. Come to think of it, I'll need a replacement for Caroline in her little froggy dress, too!!

These really are sweet. Little Austin is so cute.

You are a good mommy to do this Donna. I stopped doing it after Danny.

He is gorgeous. I'm impressed with the good job. I guess it helps when your subject is so darn cute!

If it makes you feel any better about being late with something, Essie had her two month check up today. (She's three months and a week!) I'll be lucky if she even gets one year pictures!!

Oh Donna, those first 3 pictures are absolutely precious! He is one photogenic boy and these pics make me want to eat him up. They did a great job on this one I must say!

By the way, Max spent the first 3 months of his life in the hospital and for 3 solid months I thought I had changed my name to "mom" without realizing it. But, I guess it would be hard to remember all the people you have to deal with...let's give those poor minimum wage workers a break! :)

WooHoo handsome fellow! Roy Austin is too cute. I just want to pick him up and squeeze him. Going off Dolly's comment about finding a photographer...if you want I can have Todd post an ad on his professional photographers for one and have him look at their stuff for you before recommending one. Just let me know.

Those are great!!! Very photogenic! That reminds me I need to start planning Hannah's...seriously I have second child syndrome with her as her scrapbook is empty and she's only had ONE photo shoot!!! YIKES> if I'm this bad with baby #1 I can only imagine the rest.

Ain't he cute......I have been blessed with the cutest grandchildren. As Tai-Tai use to say about daddy Roy...Has the face of an angel and acts like an "imp"...She loved "imps" like I do. Hard on the mothers but pays off in the end!!! Besides I like kids with a personality all their own. Oh the memories are sweet!

Very cute...isn't it funny how they will let you take all the snapshot photos in the world, but when it comes to the formal portraits, they get all stubborn on us??? I think they know these are costing us money! But I think his look great. :)
