Like most of you, I want to look good in 2009. I've given up desserts until V-Day and I've been doing some type of aerobic activity each day. Yesterday my sweet RoyBoy (Sr.) surprised me and brought home a Wii Fit to go with the Wii we got for Christmas. I eagerly opened it and got it all set up, but I have to say that I'm a little disappointed with the results. I expected it to be more of a "class". Instead it's just a bunch of different moves to do. I wanted it to be something like a 30-45 minute non-stop cardio workout. Instead, it's 15 reps of leg lifting, then the assessment of how you did and then your score/what you need to work on. Then you have to pick another move and go through the whole spill again. Definitely nothing to keep your heart rate up for 3o minutes. Looks like I'll be keeping up my workouts with Cindy Crawford, the treadmill in the garage and pilates and zumba at church.
I will say that the Wii Fit has fun games that gave us some good laughs last night. There are fun skiing games, soccer and a really fun jogging activity. If you have a Wii, you know about the Miis. When we set ours up last week, we did our family right away. Roy was still out of town, so Caroline and I had fun making his. I have to say that his Mii is a CARBON COPY of himself:

When we made "Roy G." Caroline and I literally sat on the couch and laughed out loud! When Denise and her family were here last week, we created "Denny":

The funny thing is, when I do my jogging, "Denny" runs by me. And when Roy and I compete in bowling tournaments some nights, "Denny" is in the background sitting on a bench cheering us on. Again, we got some good laughs at her expense the other night.
I've also enjoyed the Dancing With the Stars Wii game. I hate to brag, but I am pretty good. And call me crazy, but that game gives your arms a little workout all of it's own! Sunday afternoon, I entered a tournament and unlocked just about all of the songs. Roy sat on the couch, looking through the Charlotte Observer, and thought he was pretty smart pretending to be one of the judges while critiquing me. Like I said, I hate to brag...but I'm really good.

If you want a good workout...The Firm. It is awesome and so much fun! It comes in a series so one night is weights the other night is cardio. I love it! Cindy Crawford has nothing on this!
That so funny that I am running along side of you! That wii Fit sounds really cool. Keep it up sweet girl, and I'll keep cheering you on!
Fun stuff- and you're right Roy's mii looks just like him!
I must tell you that you look wonderful/great just the way you are! And that you don't need to lose an ounce.
Looking forward to Zumba next week!
I too got the Wii Fit for Christmas. After you play it, it unlocks different things for you. I really like the free step and the free run. I do both for 30 minutes and it allows you to change the channel on the TV while doing it. I watch something I dvred and I am good to go. The advanced step class will also get you going. I thought the same thing as you- I really wanted a work out, but then I found these options that I do like. Good luck!
Love the title!! OH yes I'm all about getting my body back in shape too...especially before our anniv cruise in a few weeks. Good luck on not eating sweets till Vday, that would be a hard one! My in-laws are doing "sparkpeople.com" to have a weight/healthy challenge...now if only it would stop raining and the sun would stay out longer...
Heather is right. Also, I took a strength training course and the strength training really works with as many reps as you can do on each one. Keep it up. You look great any way, though.
Donna, did I see that you are now doing Zumba? You go girl! Zumba is a great work out and the time flies by.
Now what's all this ZUmba about? I'm anxious to hear about that. I can't wait to try your wii fit next time we come visit. I bet you'll end up loving it.
I'm LOL at "Denny" and her person. So funny!
Isn't the Wii so much fun??! Good to know DWTS is a fun game. I wanted to get it but was afraid it would be a dud. I may head over to Target tomorrow to check it out...
So, now that you have the DWTS moves, are you going to try it with any of the outfits like Edyta and Karina wear???!
We had the best time making all of our Miis. Peyton's is so cute and she was even able to put the little mole on her chin on her Mii in the same spot! We've done all of our friends, neighbors and family and Peyton's teacher. It's scary how true-to-life some of them look!
Donna, YEAH...you got it!!! That was sweet of Roy. Hey, for some reason, your posts aren't coming to my email Dolly's are but yours aren't.
As for Wii fit...the Hula Hooping will get your heartrate up fo sho! Once you do the regular one, you'll unlock the SUPER Hula hooping and that is EVEN better. Do that baby a couple of times and you won't be complaining anymore.
Also do the boxing training on the regular Wii sports. The one where you have to duck from side to side to miss the tennis balls will have your obliques FEELING it MAJOR!!!!
Hey Donna, sorry I don't comment much but thought I would mention. I was at Target the other day looking at games for the Wii, and saw one by the trainer who does The Biggest Loser, I think it uses the wii fit devices? Not sure, but know she is a really hardcore trainer. Might be worth checking into, I was thinking about getting it, just havn't had a chance to see what's its all about yet. See what you think!
Well, Roy and I dabbled with the WiiFit a little more last night and we unlocked some more things. Apparently I"m a professional skiier, a great runner and a yoga/aerobics trainer!! It was really fun and I can feel it in my ankles this morning. I need to read the manual to really understand how to use it, but we had a good time. I did the hula hoop thing 3 times in a row and then did the advanced hula hoop activity and I worked up a major sweat!!!
Donna, you amaze me! I came back this a.m. as I failed to comment yesterday on your DWTS. I bet you are amazing at it. Me on the other hand...not so graceful on the dance floor. That is why Zumba is just a hoot for me as I am not coordinated.
Thanks for the consumer report on Wii fit. :) I have been debating getting it and it is good to know the good and bad. Let me know how it progresses and how you like it.
I heard there is a Wii game by the trainers on the Biggest Looser show. I wonder what that one is like?
Way to go Donna! It looks like fun.
I went to Tandy's house yesterday to try hers. I got weighed and had my BMI done. You know how it tells you your age by how "fit" you are??? Well, I was.......48 YEARS OLD!!! How depressing! I wanted to crawl in a hole. It's motivating though.
By the way, you look fine already! Just focus on being healthy Donna, focus on being healthy. :)
Glad you are enjoying the wii! I also got wii fit for Christmas and like you was a little disappointed but at least it's getting me off the couch. :O) Plus, I have seen that as you unlock more, some of the things can be a little more intense. I'm also going to look into what other discs they have for the fit besides the one that it came with.
You are going to Zumba at Carmel? Isn't it great! If Robbye is your teacher, I hope that you have heard her story. She lost quite a bit of weight by finding that she enjoyed Zumba as well as watching what she ate. She is a friend of mine from Charlotte:ONE and I went to Zumba a good bit last year at Carmel with her. :O)
Way to start the New Year right!
Ashleigh, they do Zumba now every other Monday and every Tuesday morning. I don't think it's that girl doing it that you're talking about. Maybe they have 2 Zumba teachers?
