I have a BAD history of getting my hair done professionally for a wedding. Two weddings in a row turned out to be a DISASTER. For Dolly's wedding, I made an appointment at a nice salon in Lynchburg. Well, the stylist was a no-show, so Dolly's stylist squeezed me in last minute and literally did my hair in 5 minutes. As I was leaving the salon, I thought, "not bad. I think I'll redo the front when I get home, but it's not bad". Looking back, the style kinda resembles a nurse from the 50's? Well, when I walked into my parent's kitchen, the faces that met me told me the opposite:

And if your mother can't tell you the truth, who can? Mom said (very matter of factly) "Donna. I just don't think your hair becomes you". Well, me, being the 11 weeks pregnant that I was, ran out of the kitchen and up the stairs in tears! (Mom, no hard feelings...it's funny!). Kim and Teecy were in Dolly's bathroom and when I ran in (hysterically crying), they looked a little scared. They dropped everything--Teecy stopped doing HER hair to do mine-- they gave me a pep talk, and my hair ended up looking good!! The first picture cracks me up because it is so "Kim". You have to know her to laugh at this picture (I think I kept saying, "I'm just pregnant. I don't know why I'm crying!!!):

And after seeing this picture, I'm beginning to think that this is where it all began for our LeRoy:

That's soooo funny, Donna. I remember that hair episode very well. When you ran upstairs crying, I stood in the kitchen crying because I had hurt your feelings. The makeup lady, who I had never seen before in my life, was there and witnessed the whole thing. We can look back and laugh now, but at the time, it was a serious matter!! I'm glad that we can at least look back on things after the fact and see the humor in what was happening. BTW, Teecy did a wonderful job on your hair....and it was free, too!!
It is fun to look back on "moments" and laugh at that. I have had many Donna that were not so funny at the time, but become funny over time. Time does have a way of giving a different perspective on things.
Have a great weekend.
Okay, I'm sitting here in my house LOL and shaking this is so funny. I remember the whole episode like it was yesterday. I love that Stephanie caught the moment on camera. I remember giving MOM a pep talk after you ran upstairs and then Roy thanked mom for being honest. He didn't know how to tell you he didn't like your hair up. SO FUNNY! YOu ended up looking B-E-A-utiful!
Oh, and I forgot to mention the HILARIOUS picture of LeRoy. That's when it all began and we didn't even pick up on it then. Proofs in the puddin'. hahahahah!
Gotta love my Leroy's!
Mom, Donna, I am laughing at moms comment (first comment)!
What a memorable day for so many reasons. While you two were crying about hair and hurt feelings, I was crying about trying to stuff my post partum (Margaux--1 month old)double D's and body into my brides maids dress, praying to God I would leak--if you know what I mean.
All for our sweet Dolly girl! Love'er!
Yeah, and if I remember right....after the fact....you had a terrible headache all day, Denise, and nobody even knew it. Bless your heart. I guess you couldn't take anything strong because you were nursing, but yet you didn't tell anyone about how you felt. You're a real trooper!! What a day!!!
Funny story and pictures. Love how your hair ended up. Beautiful! Laughing that Roy did not want to tell you the truth about your hair...WISE MAN!
I am very curious about digital scrapbooking. I dont understand it at all and dont know anyone who does it so I cant ask any questions. HELP! I need the low down! Do a post with a tutorial.
HILARIOUS!!! I love posts like this. I agree with the hair. You look so pretty in the last picture. Those girls did a much better job on your hair than the professional. Aren't you glad Jenius told you that or you would be posting pictures today saying, "Wasn't my hair ridiculous, why didn't anyone tell me?"
I ROLLED at the LeRoy picture. That is priceless. That should be a mounted 16 x 20 somewhere!!!1
Denise, all I can say is "Bless your Heart". You were a trooper.
I am glad Roy had enough sense to keep his mouth shut. Moms can say things....husbands....shush!!!!! Glad he was smart enough to say nothing.
You all looked gorgeous and I think you didn't like your hair and Cissie's wedding either. Is that aright? You are funny Donna. Maybe you won't have to be in anymore weddings. You are like Cissie, you two have been in a few....
OHHHHHHH!!! At Cissie's wedding I was 2 months postpartum and had to STUFF myself into a strapless dress!!! Let's just say that when it comes to feeding my babies, God blessed me (if you get my drift). STRAPLESS DRESS!!!!!
I made an appt to get my hair done and again, I looked like a nurse from the 50's. Roy saw it and agreed I needed to go tell the lady to redo it. So she did and made it SKIN TIGHT to my head and I looked awful again! This time, instead of crying, I laughed b/c it was all happening again and I had paid another $50 just to take my hair out. Dolly came to the rescue and did my hair. At that point, I didn't care what I looked like.
Let's just say in 2007, I wasted $100 on hair.
This is a hoot and Kimmie cracks me up. You so purdy, Donnie, and LOVE the beginning of LeRoy!
You've long made up for you missing 100 w/ all those coupon savings.
Rolling at the DDs. I soooooo relate...unfortunately for me, NOT just PostP. Waaaahhhhhhh.
Your hair looked great after all that! I am just LOL at LeRoy...so funny. :)
Seriously, why do we go get our hair in "up-dos" because we know they NEVER look good!!!
Donna, I'm laughing because you so don't seem like the girl to cry over hair, but when you threw in there that you were 11 weeks pregnant I TOTALLY understood! You did look pretty both ways though.
Denise, you're so funny...double D's, leaking, bridesmaid dress...those things just don't mesh very well, do they? :)
Hilarious! We have all had those hair nightmares I think!
I am with Nikki on the digital scrapbook tutorial...I want to do it to catch up {HELP!} Maybe you could have a guest blogger (your friend who helped you decide) come tell us about it and how to do it!
This made me smile. I remember hearing this story from you after the wedding. Your hair really did turn out great! TC did a great job!! You look beautiful at Dolly's wedding!
