After I put the kids down for their naps today, I went to tackle the downstairs closet, or as we call it, "Caroline's Garage". This is the coat closet that is now full of inside riding toys, a bag of books and a laundry basket overflowing with toys. The funny thing is, when we moved into this house, the basket had just a few toys in it. It's amazing how many toys children collect.
Caroline is the queen of destroying a room. Seriously. But she is good about picking up. When we got home the other night from VA, she opened her garage and just started going through everything! Before I knew it, there was a tea set scattered everywhere, a puzzle all over the floor (undone, of course) Disney princesses all over the place. Speaking of Disney Princesses, look what I uncovered just from the downstairs closet alone:

Yes, here we have the Pez Princesses, Belle Stylin' Head, Cinderella's castle with all the major princesss and their princes, princess book bag, purse, carrying case, big princesses, baby princesses, magic princess wand and mirror, those annoying little rubber princesses that I find pieces to all over this house....Is there anything that the Disney Princesses aren't on? And like I said, this is the
DOWNSTAIRS closet. We still have a playroom and Caroline's bedroom full of princess treasures.
So, I threw out a few junky things, made a pile for a future yard sale or consignment sale, and the rest of the games/puzzles/dolls/teething toys/play phones/legos/etc. I put into ziploc bags to help in the organization campaign. Let's see how long it stays this way. I have a feeling that the minute the princess in this house wakes up, it will be all over.

Wow DJ, quite a collection! And that is just Caroline...you have Roy Austen right behind her with his bow and arrows, toy guns, army men (wait until you step on one of those with your bare feet), blocks, trains...just to name a few to get you thinking! Consignment is the way to go! I just made $43.00 in one week by taking a FEW things. I mean a few! I am getting ready to gather more things now! This is a perfect way to get your stuff out of the house and let someone else worry about the clutter, while you collect! Me likey!! ILYAll. Tell Caroline I said "hi" and give RAusten a kiss for me!
Nicely done, Donna. NICE-LY DONE! Doesn't it make you feel so good when you open that closet now? Whenever I clean out the boys' toys, they feel like they've got brand new toys.
By the way, I love to clean out a few things whenever Paul is out of town for a while, then when he comes back, it looks like I've been working really hard! :)
You've only got a few days left! I know you'll be so happy to have your boy home. Sounds like you've done a great job keeping the fort down.
That looks very similar to the collection in our play room! We have Disney princess EVERYTHING!!! We have all of those things you just named and then some I think! And my sweet Dad buys everything he sees with a Disney princess on it! (We got two sets of Disney princess Pez for Christmas)With three little princesses, it is out of control! Thats my goal for this week, cleaning out the play room...we are getting ready to have a birthday and I need to make some room, great!
Today is the day your man comes home!!! I'm in the car (ker as it's said up North) with mom and daddy and Leland coming back from Ruthie's wedding. Good job on the closet. Job well done!
Donna, who has time to line up all the closet toys just for a blog picture!?!? you crack me up! Great job organizing! Hope you have a great night with Roy coming home!
you better not have thrown out the Belle Stylin Head...I'm going to look for her the next time I am there.
Oh, no. The stylin' head is one of our faves! Trust me...she's still with us:)
