Texas Graham
Early February 2008- Early April (I'm guessing April 8th?) 2008
I knew it would happen one day. I just didn't think it would happen so soon. Tex and I were on a roll. He was loving life, I was feeding him regularly and I was proud of myself for remembering to do so. I did, however, forget to feed him when we left for Easter. I thought for sure we'd return to a dead fish, but nope. Six days later, he was still wiggling that tail of his just waiting for some algae flakes.
It went down like this: I fed him on Monday. Tuesday afternoon, we were playing in the play room. I went over to look at the bowl because I needed to clean it and it looked NA-STY! I couldn't find the poor guy. Then I saw a lifeless little orange blob floating helplessly in the right corner. Yuck! I don't do animal things. I do babies, but not animals. So, I alerted Roy that he needed to take care of Texas when he got home. We both honestly forgot about him until this morning when Roy had to do a quick flushing. So lil' Tex is somwhere in the pipelines of Mecklenburg County. Fortunately, Caroline hasn't even thought about Texas in the past week or so-- she has no clue! Rest in peace, Tex. Rest in peace.

Donna, I am so sorry about your loss. I know it must be hard. If I lived in Charlotte, I would bring you some food to help during your time of grief. He is at the big Texas cattle ranch in the sky.
On a serious note, quick...get to Walmart and get a replacement before Caroline figures it out. You don't want to traumatize her at the innocent age of 3. LOL!
Now that is sad. I at least expect a a memorial service like Bill Cosby did when Rudy's fish died! good thing Caroline didn't notice!
cute post Donna... and yet a little gross at the same time:) RIP Tex.
I just got back on and laughed at the TAPS playing in the background. So funny!
I'm too emotional right now to even comment.
I am chucklin. I was wondering how long Tex would last. The cutest thing about good ole Tex was his cute little home.
I am laughing. I don't do animal things either! Babies-Check! Dogs-Check! But that is where I stop! No Dr. Doolittle here!
LAUGHING at TAPS!!!!!! Good one pumpkin, good one!
Robby and I had a beta fish named Jonah. He was great. He would wiggle his little nose in his rocks when he was hungry. Very cute! (At least I think thats what he was doing...not that fish can communicate with humans though, or that they have a brain any bigger than a speck of dust) We went to Taiwan to see Teecy and he died at my friends house. She actually had another friend come over and they buried him outside their campus apartment and had a little "memorial service." HA. I hated it for her, but was very glad I didn't have to deal with it!
Poor, poor Tex. He had a good life and he went doing what he loved...swimming away (or maybe not). Funny about this because I actually thought of Tex yesterday and wondered if he was still kicking it. You answered my question. Bless his lil fins.
LOL at Taps. DG is very clever. Sorry about Tex...he had a good life.
Oh no! Poor little guy. Well, he has a good run while it lasted.
I am so not a fish person. Sad for Caroline though, at least when she thinks about him again. At least he went before you had to clean his tank! Yuck!
joanna, i had no idea about that had experienced that loss while you were here in taiwan!
remember the memorial service that michael had (on the office) for the bird that died outside the office building? pam made a cute little box and someone sang! hilarious episode!
