Prom Challenge

My friend, Hannah, has great ideas for blog challenges. Right now she has a mullet challenge going on to see who can find the best mullet in a public place and there have been some funny entries. She had another great idea this morning for the best prom pictures from the past. She didn't want to have too many challenges going on right now on her blog, so I decided to host this one. So, if you have a funny picture of you going to a prom, please email it to me and I will submit it on here. Include the prom year and the name of your hot date. I will go first. Sorry for the blurry pictures. I can't figure out how to scan them. Please let me start by saying that our school didn't have proms. We had "Jr/Sr Banquets". We were a Christian school, you know! Also, none of my dates were hot. I did not enjoy dating in highschool--boys were too immature for my taste.
Man, I wish this picture would come out clearly! This was my 10th grade year, 1996. My date was Mark Davis and he didn't say 2 words to me the entire night. You like his white lapels? Snazzy, Mark. We are at my friend, Holli's, house and we doubled with her and her boyfriend, Chad. I am wearing Dolly's hand-me-down dress but I didn't care. It was a Jessica McClintock and I thought I was so cool. Don't you love my black gloves? Classy, huh. I especially like the fake diamond/pearl bracelet that sets the gloves off. I can remember being SO glad this night was over.

This was my junior year, 1997. My date was John Johnson. I remember being excited to go with him because he was one of the cool seniors, but then he ruined it. He took me out on a date prior to the Jr/Sr. Our date was going great. He took me to get a milkshake and then to a play at Liberty University and then in the middle of the play... he held my hand! It freaked me out because I have big hands and he had smaller ones. I felt like I was holding a little boy's hand. Plus, it creeped me out that he held my hand on the first date. Come on, John!! Move slowly! In this picture we are at his grandparent's house posing with their bear. I am wearing Denise's bridesmaids dress from her wedding that previous summer. Again, Jessica McClintock! WOOHOO! A Reber girl favorite. I actually liked this dress. The back was really pretty and I felt pretty. Once again, though....I was SO happy when this night ended. Donna in highschool+ dating equaled awkward!

Okay, why can't I get this picture to scan! I wish you could see my hair. My mom did it and at the time, I thought my bee-hive was so classy! Looking back now, I look like a grandmother at her grandson's wedding! This was my senior year (1998) and I was dreading this night, but it ended up being great! My date was Brian Summers (the smartest guy in our class) and he asked me 2 months in advance. I had no excuse so I had to say yes. There was no awkwardness, though, because he knew I wasn't interested, so we went as friends and it was a fun night. I am wearing a spaghetti strap number with a stole. I remember I was so happy that my mom let me get this dress. I was in a major Jackie Kennedy Onassis stage during this time and I thought this dress was just like something she'd wear. Not hardly, Donna, but it's nice that you thought that. You're cute. Oh yeah, and the sweet little couple to my right is none other than Dr. and Mrs. Daniel K. Logan and their 3 month old daughter Maddie!

So there you have it. Who's next?

Donna, you have to give me those pics PRONTO so I can scan them and you can post the real deal. Those are TOOO good not to see clearly. BTW, are those leggings I spot on Denny in the last pic?!?!? I'm getting ready to go to the garage and rummage through some boxes. I'll see what I can find. GOOD JOB!!!!!! Thanks for being the hostess. This might be better than the MC (mullet challenge).

You are so funny Donna. I will have to have mom or Dolly scan or email me my Jr/Sr pic with Steven. Embarr!

Yee HPS--I was the queen of leggings BACK WHEN THEY WERE IN! Danny HATES them. Always did.

Oh my goodness! I had the same idea this morning, and was going to tell you to do it!!! She got the idea from Regis and kelly! I was going to do it, but come on, I am a young chick so my pictures are not too bad, yet. I love it!

I laughed the whole way through this post. I'm talking laughing OUT LOUD by myself. This was hilarious and I remember every one of these dates just like they were my own. Great idea and I agree with HPS. You need to get those pics scanned in so you can see the detail. I'm a little embarrassed to put some of my pics up. Remember the Barney Purple dress? YIKES!

Donna, that is so funny. I would take the challenge only my small Christian school didn't even have a Jr/Sr. Oh, well. I know Brian Summers and his wife. Very sweet people! Anyway, you are the blogging queen. Too funny!!!

Hahah! Dolly, you HAVE to post the picture of you in your purple dress! I'm laughing just thinking about it. Dayna, you need to send in the one of you in that bubble gum pink, Gone with the Wind, lacy thing!

Thanks for making me feel like a big loser guys...I never got asked to ANY of our Jr/Sr banquets (christian school). Yep, ole Jenny from the Block had NO game in high school. I've tried to move on, but these blogs are bringing back the sad memories...

Oh wait...I just went to HPS blog and saw that she linked to my homecoming picture..maybe just maybe I can play this game! I got voted on the homecoming court my senior year, but yep, you got it, didn't get asked out for the after party. What was wrong with me???

By the way, Donna, LOVE, LOVE LOVE the big hands/small hands story!! Dating was horrendous in high school, wasn't it!

I am laughing so hard at these pictures and your descriptions of them. I had just finished a post with some old pictures, coincidentally before I looked at your posts. I will have to find a few more Jr/Sr. Banquet pictures. I can't wait to see everybody's pictures!!!

OK, I have just gone back through the pictures from prom. You have to get a clearer picture of you and the beehive with Danny and Denise. That hair is hilarious. You look like an old-time Pentecostal woman.

Also, who takes their dates to get their picture taken in front of a stuffed bear in a house. Hmmmm, just wondering.

I remember those J. McClintock dresses. Those were the bomb!!!

I am laughing at the hand-holding story. Did you tell him to call you again when he got hand-implants? LOL!

This is great! I will have to search for my prom pics...Oh the places I will have to go. I might be in top running for embarrassment...My date was a "poser cowboy" and I was his redneck girlfriend...I am turning red thinking about it. I will try to find them...it is worth seeing.

WOW!!! I haven't thought about "jr/sr" in forever!! And I totally forgot about John Johnson holding your hand...All I remember about the year we "doubled" with Chad and Mark was how fast Mark was driving in that BMW. Do you remember that? I thought we were going to die! Such a great post, Donna, I wish I had more time to check blogs, maybe I will still send you some of my pics...if I can find them.

Wait, we rode in a BMW that year? I don't remember that at all, or Mark driving too fast. I just remembering watching the clock and waiting for the night to end. Seriously, Mark did not talk to me.
