A Party, A Walk, More Proms and We're Off!

It was a busy weekend for us and it will be an even busier day. Some of you have asked me how I find time to blog with two kids. A lot of the time, I start a blog post and save it and then come back to finish it later. I can't neglect the kids too much, you know:)

Saturday afternoon, we went to the birthday party of Caleb Taylor, Carolines BFF. His mom and I were pregnant together and the kids have grown up with each other since day one, which is so nice. Everyone had a great time and Jessica did such a good job with everything. Each child even left with a picture of themselves with Lightning McQueen already framed!

The birthday boy, himself.

Caroline loved playing outside on the swingset! Kristi Smalley, she's wearing PANTS! It's a smocked pant set, though:)

RoyBoy even had fun. He went through the entire day on a 45 minute nap and did really well, but he finally hit a wall on the swing.

Let's see. You saw the Twirling Video I posted. Sunday before and after church I think Caroline twirled her little heart out. It's so funny how girls go through the whole princess/dressup/twirling/pink/ballerina stage all on their own. We are definitely in the middle of that one right now and I love it! It was a beautiful day, too, so we spent most of it outside playing. The Johnsons stopped by, so Roy and Mitchell went to hit some golf balls while Suzanne, the kids and I went on a die-hard 3+ mile walk!

The three jogger-teers. Roy Austin is just about to outgrow his bassinet on the jogger. Me sad. Sarah, sit like a lady! Let me tell you that pushing two kids and talking at the same time is a work-out!

Here are some more Junior/Senior pictures that Dolly found of two of my sisters. The first is of our oldest sister, Dayna. I honestly cannot believe that LCA allowed this dress into the building. After all, 7 years later, Dolly couldn't wear spaghetti straps! Shameful.

The year was 1988. Dayna was a senior and her date was Eric Esterline. Eric went classic that year. No matching bow tie, just a simple tux. Nice. I remember thinking Dayna looked BEAUTIFUL. She did! I loved her dress and I thought my sister was a princess. The bodice of this dress was total white sequins and the bottom was all tulle. I was 8 at the time, so you can imagine the awe I felt! She was also in the Junior Miss pageant that year and this was her "evening dress". Dayna was the queen of puffy bangs and I can still see her spraying the "wings" of her hair and then waving her hand really fast to dry them! LOL!

Jump to the year 1993 and Dawn Reber was a senior. She decided to go short this year and got a dress that was TOTAL sequins. This was a heavy dress and weighed a ton--probably more than she did. Her shoes had silver sparkles ALL OVER! Once again, I thought she was stunning. She really doesn't look bad. This is not an embarrassing picture in the least. Being the youngest of 5 girls, I witnessed a lot of behind the scenes action like getting ready for dates, jr/sr's, shopping for dresses, etc. I always thought my role models looked gorgeous. Dawn's date was her boyfriend, Keith Hundley. This is the only pic Dolly could find of Dawn. We couldn't find one with the date. If my memory serves me correctly, didn't he wear a black cowboy hat?! By the way, Mom, how much money do you think you spent total on Jr/Sr, homecoming, bridesmaids and wedding gowns for all of us girls?!!! Give us a ball park figure.

We are leaving for Orlando tomorrow!! I am so excited. Something about Disney makes ME feel like a kid. I think we're going to leave at the crack of dawn and drive right through (stopping for breaks, of course). We'll meet up with two of my sisters, Dawn and Denise, on Wednesday and then all 11 of us are hitting the Magic Kingdom on Thursday! I cannot wait to see Caroline's face when she realizes what "Didney Would" is. I'll have to capture that moment on video for sure.

So today, I have lots of errands to run, including a stop by Tar-zjay to pick up some trash mags (People, US Weekly). Please don't think I'm bad, but I bought "Stori Telling" (Tori Spelling's new bio) on Ebay to read. She was doing her book tour recently and she hit a lot of the talk shows and the book sounded interesting. I'll give a thorough book review when I return. We weren't allowed to watch 90210 when I was growing up. Dolly and I actually were caught watching it once and we were both grounded! I still remember the episode. It was an early one, and a mild one at that. Mom was right, though. I would have done the same thing!!

I will be MIA until next Monday. The day we return, Roy Austin gets dedicated to the Lord at our church, so it will be a busy week/weekend for our family. Have a fun week, everyone...I know we will!!.

Have a fun trip, Don Don! Take lots of pics of RA1 w/ Mickey so he can't try to act like he had nothing to do w/ Mickey when ya'll get back. Can't wait to hear how ya'll like staying at Mickey's Treehouse or whatever it's called. We'll miss you and must play when you return. Love, Hannie

By the way, hearing that Disney music makes me feel like a little girl at Disney again. Being at Disney is a hard thing to explain to a guy. Leland doesn't understand why we love it so much but it takes you back to such great memories as a kid!

AAAAHHHHH....Disney with the family. How fun! You all be careful and have a great time although I do think you need to bring your computer and blog as the trip progresses. You can't invite us to your blog and then leave for a week. What will we all do?

Laughing at the pants comment. Caroline looked so free to play not having to worry if her panties were showing. JK

Dayna, you were quite the sexy thing with that off the shoulder number. For a Christian school, you were pushing the envelope. Dawn, WOW....you were one Sassy thing. I bet that dress was heavy. Denise, where is your blue dress picture?

First of all...you were EIGHT in 1988...thanks for making me depressed. :)

I seriously would love to know the amount your poor mom and dad spent on proms and weddings...are they still paying off their 3rd and 4th mortgages? C'mon Jenius...this is where you need to pipe in and give us details!

Have a great time in Disney! I will miss your posts, but maybe this will help me with my blog addiction-you always have new posts and I'm constantly checking your blog so you are partly responsible for my problem. :)

You will have such a great time in Disney. Let me know what you think of that book, because I am interested in reading it. I saw it at the Library, so I may just read it with you! I also did not know you could write a post and save it and come back and finish, see the things I learn from you!

I remember Dawn and Keith on this particular evening, quite spiffy I must say! And I think you are correct, I do believe there was a cowboy hat somewhere in the "mix". Oh my, what could have been! We could have been family - kinda! :)
Oh well, definately my brothers loss! Hope you guys have lots of fun in Disney!
