The next morning was the prayer breakfast. We woke up bright and early at 4:45 and were out of the hotel by 6:00. Poor Roy felt SO miserable and was coughing, burning up hot, had the chills, etc. I felt so badly for him! The function was very crowded and claustrophobic, but we did enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately--for this blog and it's fans-- they did not allow ANY pictures to be taken. President Bush and his wife were there and he gave a great speech. A couple of people took their cameras out and took some pictures, and I was tempted, believe me. I knew I'd humiliate my husband if I did, though. Kind of like the time we were at Epcot and Michael Jackson walked by us holding a black umbrella and I joined the crazy paparazzi crowd and took off running after him. He never lets me forget how insane I acted that day, but I got a great picture of Michael:) Oh, yeah...Barack and Hillary were not there. I guess they think campaigning is more important than the spiritual welfare of our nation. Hmmm. I think that just cost them my vote.
After the breakfast, we drove back to my parent's house and enjoyed a nice dinner with my family that night. My parents closed out on some property they owned with Kroger grocery stores on Thursday afternoon, so it was a celebratory meal for our family without any kids. We were missing the Logans and Dayna's husband, Juette, but it was still a nice and happy occassion!
We are back home now after having a rough start to our day. Roy once again felt/feels miserable and I still had/have a lingering sore throat. Thankfully, the kids aren't sick (yet!). I've been praying like crazy that they won't catch what we have. When we got home, Caroline wanted to play with her Daddy outside. He was a good sport and swung her on the swing for a while. Hopefully this will be the start to a relaxing and care-free weekend!

The piggies look great. My mom was saying that she was sick like that the last time she went to the NPB and doesn't remember one lick of it.
I've been all laid up today with cough and aches. Sore throat is starting to kick in! I've been downing the garlic, got an antibiotic and am using those ZICAM nose swab things...they are my new BF!
Poor Dolly. Why did they stick you all the way down at the end of the table? Hakuna, I don't know why it makes me giggle so to see your coat draped over your shoulders. You're just a cutie patootie. One question, who did you get to babysit?!?!? COngrats on the big sale!
So sorry about the sickness. I still say Mitchell was innocent. But he did catch whatever it was and still has a lingering cough. I feel pretty good. thankfully, since Sarah's dedication is this coming Sunday and Mitchell's fam is coming in town tomorrow! busy weekend ahead.
Looks like a fun trip. Nice to getaway with no kids.
Way to go Mr. Reber!
Girls- I have been loading up on my vitamins lately, a ton of Vit C, Zinc, and whatever else I think could be helpful, in addition to my pre-natals I still take. I think this helped me.
Nice post Donna. Sounds like you still had fun. At least you got to get away. Hey, didn't know you were all eating out the other night. Sweet, really sweet!
Poor Denise....I thought about you as I was looking at the picture...Doesn't Jonathon Falwell need a staff counselor at TRBC? Ha!
Donna, I have been anxiously awaiting your post...I thought about you yesterday and am so sorry yall were sick. Murphy's Law...you get a break from your kids and you don't feel well. That happened to me on the ONE weekend we have ever gotten away from our kids ever.....It was an anniversary trip to the Gulf Coast and I ended up with a severe case of strep throat. I couldn't even talk let alone kiss. Miserable! Anyway, I hope you all feel better. What hotel did you stay in? We were there last summer and also stayed within walking distance of the White House. BTW - We will let the picture thing slide this time. LOL!
It was fun seeing you all in the middle of the week. I still think you should have snuck a picture at the prayer breakfast. You could have turned off your flash and just "accidentally" snapped a shot. Oh well, you probably did the right thing.
HPS, I was a little lonely stuck in the corner of the table but I was trying to be nice and be the one to sit there.
Kristi, I AGREE! I think Johnny boy needs a Dan the Man at TRBC for sure.
Johnny boy! Funny. All I can say is Jehovah Jireh!
DRS, way to be just here to serve...just here to serve!
P.S. Donna, your picture story reminds me of everyone snappin sweet Daddy B's pic at Cissie's wedding. SOOOOOOOOO annoying. Let the poor man enjoy his grandaughters wedding in peace. OH...AND sweet Tai Tai's resting place too ...I mean, where's the reverance?
Denise, you crack me up...JJ. :)
Almost as bad as people doing it to him at our wedding! I was humiliated! People...he's just a man. This is my moment...MY MOMENT! J/k. Seriously, people go crazy over celebs...me included:) I'm going to find the Michael Jackson picture and post it. It is a really good one!
So I guess if I come visit Charlotte I can't stalk the Graham compound? Ha! I do agree that they are normal people. I have worked for three large ministries and there is almost a let down b/c you go in a little stary eyed and you realize REAL QUICK just how human they are, warts and all. I do have great respect for BG. He has always carried himself with such dignity. That being said, Donna can you sneak me into his house? J/K LOLOLOL!
HPS you have such funny codes you blog with i.e. Tai-Tai, Hakuna, etc. Fill us in, fill us in.
We do want to see the Michael Jackson picture.
Kristi--if you came to Charlotte, I would roll out the red carpet for you and give you a personal tour! No, seriously we had some people sneak come to our wedding who weren't invited. Roy and I had NO clue who they were when we were going around the tables to greet people. Weird. I had some family members take CLOSE UP pictures of Roy's g-father. It embarrassed me slightly!
Tai-Tai is what Roy called his grandmother. It means "old lady" in Chinese and she grew up in China.
Hakuna Matata- Dawn went to Africa earlier this Fall, so Hannah nicknamed her this.
Top Dawg--That is a story in itself.
I can't believe people snuck into your wedding. (Denise said I could) J/K That is pretty brazen. I bet the Grahams get so sick of that.
Thanks so much for interpreting all the code names. So cute! I just was feeling a little left out of the blog family and I am a big believer in just getting the issues out in the open so bitterness doesn't creep in. We all were getting so close and it just needed clarification. LOL!
Did you get married at TRBC with Dr.JF or did you get married in Charlotte at BGEA?
I am still waiting to hear who kept your kids while you were having dinner. I hope they weren't left home alone. I thought maybe the preschool teacher gave you a little too much confidence in Caroline when she told you she was an independent, take-charge kind of girl. JK!
LOL! Here are the answers to the above questions:
1. We got married in the old TRBC with Dr. F marrying us.
2. Dolly's sweet in-laws watched my two kids during dinner. I was a little nervous b/c Caroline is getting into a shy stage, but she did great. I brought The Little Mermaid DVD with her, so that took care of that.
3. Hey, after you explained what your family's personal jokes were on your blog, the least I could do was explain a few of ours. Top Dawg needs to explain what that means. I'm not doing that!
