Home Alone...Again

For as long as we've been married, Roy has put his name into the Montana "hunting lottery" in hopes to be drawn. Well, wouldn't you know that this is the year that his number was called! Tomorrow morning he heads out with 3 other guys for the long drive to Montana. Another long road trip--I know, he's crazy....but he loves it. He is so excited about this hunt, too. I just hope he doesn't bring home any pretty wall hangings for me. I've told him that one day if we hit it big time, he can have an entire vaulted-ceiling game room with his various animal heads spread out all over the walls--kind of like Gaston in Beauty and the Beast.

So, Caroline and I will once again be all by ourselves for about 10 days. It will go by fast, though, because we've got lots to do. Tomorrow I am painting stripes on the nursery wall. I painted Caroline's room last week and now I'm waiting for her big girl bed, which my parents are bringing down next Thursday, a chair that we are getting recovered, and some blinds! Caroline is so excited about her new room and she keeps going in there to read books and to play. She now points to her current room when I ask her where Roy Austin's room is. My goal is to have her in her new bed by the time Roy returns from Montana.

We are going to Boone on Sunday afternoon to spend a day or two with Roy's parents. I love going to Boone in the Fall time (although it isn't technically Fall yet). It's so pretty and crisp and it reminds me of our newlywed days. I want to hit a little children's boutique in Blowing Rock that I've had a gift card to for 2 years, and get a cute, little outfit to bring RoyBoy home from the hospital. Roy told me that it can't be gay, so I'll try my hardest to find something really masculine to put on a sweet little 7 pound newborn baby boy. Speaking of, I have bought the cutest little church outfits on clearance for him to wear in the Spring! Yes, they're smocked and adorable! I haven't shown Roy yet, but I think one nice April morning, we'll come downstairs all ready for church in our little smocked sailboat bubble. It will make Daddy so happpy. I don't get why men are so afraid for their BABY boys to wear smocked clothes! They're babies, not men. They have the rest of their lives to wear khakis and jeans. Now, I'm all for having an age limit to the smocking and the monogramming, but seriously....when they're babies, it's fine.

So, with our travels and decorating and preschool starting, we'll be busy. Oh, and Caroline starts back with her library class this next week. If you have preschoolers, call your local library and get them in a book/music class. It's free and really cute. Caroline's been going with 2 of her friends since before she could sit up on her own! Suzanne and Hannah, I go to the Matthews location but you can go to any in Charlotte. They start them at 4 or 5 months I think.

In other exciting news, Roy has to have nose surgery when he gets back from his trip. He has a deviated septum or something? It's supposed to help him breathe better, sleep better and help his sinuses. I'm just hoping it helps him in the snoring department. The doctor told him he'd be on bedrest for 5 days. Lucky me! We are definitely doing this surgery before the baby comes, so I won't have 3 babies to mother.

Have a good weekend, everyone, and Happy Labor Day!

Good update Donna! We should have planned to come see you for a long weekend in Charlotte but we've gotten lots of things done here today. Leland's worked in our yard and it looks nice while I was a redneck and I mean REDNECK with mom/dad and Dayna this morning with our yardsale. You would have thought we were having a flea market with all the tables and junk set up. It was fun though and we all left with hardly anything left and full wallets! Wish you were here to join the fun!

Donna, you are so productive! I have to get going on the nursery soon. Can't wait to see pictures of Roy and Caroline's finished rooms.

What are you doing in your nursery? I want to see pictures of it, too!

I have just caught up with all your new blogs. I love the new Carmel wing! I especially love that they added a place for mom's to nurse. That is super nice.
Roy is sure to love Montana. Just wait till Roy Austin is old enough and Roy will be taking him to hunt!

well, Roy Austin will have to be a certain age for that. We've already discussed that one! Roy is happy about having a little hunting and golf partner, though:)

Donna, we are doing a golf theme--imagine that:). However, there is no golf bedding to be found, so I am doing a cute bumble bee/polka dot bedding. It's cute in blue/white. What are you doing?

hey don don! Where did you get the cutie spring outfits? So, are you coming more fond of the sports idea now? We're always up for a playdate if you get tired of being home alone. Love, Hannie

Hannah, are you talking about a sports themed nursery? I'm confused and laughing! I got a cute little bubble at Shower Me With Love. They were having a good sale last week.

I just talked to Joy and she said she saw you and Caroline at the Youth Festival. She said Caroline was so cute raising her hands and worshipping to our Savior during the songs. :)

It was the funniest thing. She saw all the people in the crowd with their hands raised in worship. Jane and I looked over and she had her left hand raised up into the air and was just watching the guy on the stage. She held her hand up like that throughout the whole song! We laughed so hard:)
